Hi Stevie G. If I read it correctly I think you meant GPU instead of CGU, and if I'm not mistaken you should find those settings in the device manager, then device profiles, custom profile and then you should be able to select "use GPU: NO". Then it should only be using your CPU on WCG.
If that's not what you meant I apologize :) Take care! |

Hi Stevie G,
----------------------------------------I think you should go to the device profiles https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/device/viewProfiles.do and select the name of the device profile that your computer uses (probably "default", see under the heading "Profile Name", not the "create new.." links) then under "Graphics Card Usage" select "No" for those four options. then scroll down the bottom of the page and click "Save" then in boinc manager update the project WCG in simple view (click on the WCG project, project commands, update) or in advanced view (in the projects tab click WCG then update). Hope that helps. ![]() |

Thank you. I didn't know where to find those GPU settings until you and shiftshift told me where they were. I followed your instructions. Let's see if that solves the problem. I appreciate your help. SGaber |

From may project update: We will continue to create and release regular work units that use CPU power. This will help keep the work going at a good pace, and will ensure that everyone who wants to contribute computing power can participate. That's fair enough. However, given the huge productivity difference between OpenPandemics CPU vs. GPU I would like to do the following: 1. Run OpenPandemics only on my GPU 2. Run all other WCG projects on my CPU Currently I'm not aware of any way to achieve this. Other projects with supposedly more modern server software allow one to tick the option "run CPU tasks for subprojects for which GPU versions are available: no", e.g. at Einstein. Is there any chance WCG could give us this option as well? Sorry if this has been answered before, there's really a lot of info here. MrS

"" 1. Run OpenPandemics only on my GPU

Use your profiles. Default for no gpu for all sub-projects that aren't Open Pandemics and gpu only home profile for Open Pandemics.
----------------------------------------Easy to do with the Settings Device Manager. ![]() A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |

Is GPU reaserch back to stay? or more tests? 1700 GPU work units are released every 30 minutes. ![]() - AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF 6C/12T 3.2 GHz - 85W - AMD Ryzen 5 2500U 4C/8T 2.0 GHz - 28W - AMD Ryzen 7 7730U 8C/16T 3.0 GHz |

hi, is it the normal process that when there is no more GPU work to download it get a CPU one, even if it has enough CPU works ready to start as profile's settings suggest ?
