Use your profiles. Default for no gpu for all sub-projects that aren't Open Pandemics and gpu only home profile for Open Pandemics. Easy to do with the Settings Device Manager. Thanks for trying to help, Keith, but I don't see how this could work. The settings are not differentiated enough for this: - I can assign my machine to any 1 profile (home etc.). There is no difference for CPU or GPU in that machine - I can select the subproject I want to run. But this applies to CPU and GPU (I have to select all in order to run the CPU-only projects on my CPU) - I can select "use GPU" for all subprojects, which is fine because I want to run OPN@GPU - I can select "use CPU" for all subprojects, which is not fine, as I would have to set it to "no" for OPN and "yes" for all others As I said, the standard BOINC setting "run CPU versions of tasks for which GPU apps exist: no" would do it perfectly, but it's not available here. @ExtraTerrestrial Apes
----------------------------------------The solution would be to have 2 different hostname for a single device. That way you could have 2 different profile in same computer, one with OPN@GPU only and another for CPU only projects. Of course you may have 2 different Boinc's data directory too.
My GPU compute WUs as fast as I'm crushing bubble wrap.

Thanks, I see how this would help. There seems to be a good tutorial on how to do this:

There is another way, one I use myself. Set one profile e.g. school, to Open Pandemics GPU only WU's (no use of CPU, but GPU allowed), then set another profile e.g. work, to "everything else you want to crunch on CPU".
On the PC concerned set WU cache size to, say, 2 days. Now go do Device Manager in WCG website and apply first the "Work" profile to that PC. Click the update button in the BOINC client on the PC until it is full of CPU WU's. Then swap the device profile to "School" in the WCG device manager. Now you have a full cache of CPU WU's to process, but the machine will only ask for OPN1 GPU WU's from now on. Every 2 days or so swap profile back to worjk for about 10 mins to allow it to fill up again with CPU units, then swap back to school. This has the beneficial side effect that on a multi thread CPU there are regular cpu units completing and triggering a request for new work. Which will try to get GPU units. |

My PC just completed WU OPN1_0105230_00410_0. The graphics that show on the screensaver shows testing two separate compounds at the same time against the viral molecule. Is this correct, or is this just a shortcoming of the video rendering of the process?

Is this correct, or is this just a shortcoming of the video rendering of the process? Great question and a keen eye! Most of our packages, in addition to the candidate ligand and a static protein target, also feature a flexible part of the protein, which, from the simulation's perspective, is essentially a second ligand. This is the second set of atoms you can see in the screensaver graphics. The so called flexible residue can help to more realistically simulate ligand behavior by allowing better steric fit and for some of our packages is even used to model chemical reactions between the ligand and protein. |

I have processed about 20 OPN1 WU's so far but i wave not earned any points for them despite being valid results, also the issuing of W is very patchy at the moment, no more WU have been d/l

WCG is not restarted yet, the WUs presently available are only for testing the system,
----------------------------------------If you are worried about getting credit I would suggest running a different project until WCG is fully up and running again. ![]() |

However you are getting your points, and they are indeed visible on external stats sites like BoincStats and Free-DC. Edit: I guess this is you on Free-DC: https://stats.free-dc.org/stats.php?page=user...921cba469c269e5a0eb5d2dbb And here on BoincStats: https://www.boincstats.com/stats/15/user/detail/65803 [Edit 4 times, last edit by Grumpy Swede at Jul 10, 2022 5:09:44 PM] |

I was wondering what was going on with the WCG points system. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by PowerFactor at Jul 10, 2022 9:21:40 PM] |
