Hi, I have not received any workunits for GPU on beta, or in LIVE. I checked the logs on one machine 07/04/2021 16:34:21 | | Running as a daemon (GPU computing disabled) 07/04/2021 16:34:21 | | No usable GPUs found I have rtx2070 on this machine, does the message say, that I cannot use boinc running as a service if I want to use GPU or something else perhaps? Correct. For GPU to work it can not be installed as a service. Thanks, -Uplinger |

Can we expect increase of ammount of Work units soon ? :) |

Correct me if I'm wrong (@Uplinger), but my interpretation of what Uplinger said, was that 1700 WUs/30 ish minutes, 3400 WU's/hour, or 81600/day, is what we can expect, even going forward. I never heard anything about any increase of GPU tasks in the future.
----------------------------------------If that is the correct interpretation, GPU tasks will be as hard, or even harder, to get as Help Stop TB tasks. Especially keeping in mind that these WU's are fiinished in minutes, or even seconds, on a half modern GPU, and the HSTB tasks takes many hours on a CPU. Also, would be nice to use GPU on as service installations also. |

Yes, that is exactly what it means. You lose any gpu if running BOINC as a service.

Also, would be nice to use GPU on as service installations also. But it does!I'm running Fedora (Linux), BOINC is running as a service (see below) and the GPU is executing (running) one or more tasks (see below): # systemctl status boinc-client.service [Edit 1 times, last edit by adriverhoef at Apr 8, 2021 9:27:11 AM] |

I don’t know if this is the right place for my question but here it goes.
----------------------------------------How many calculations is required to cover just one protein folding? I guess that the answer is depending on the project, number of atoms and the composition of the protein so maybe the answer is an interwall? Only the scientist/app developer can answer that question. Since the flops per task is arbitrarily set by the project manager, anything else is just a guesstimate.

As the owner of this thread is "mgl_forli (OpenPandemics - COVID19, FightAIDS@Home and GO Fight Against Malaria Scientist)" I guessed that this was the right thread to ask the question in.
