The Ryzen 5950 takes care of them in under 9.5 hours. This is with the CPU loaded such that the boost clock is settling around 3.8 GHz. Not bad at all. I have a Ryzen 7 1700 on my main cruncher, but it has never received an HST unit - even now when it's polling frequently and randomly due to GPU work. It does respectably well on ARP, though. Those laptops have 2.13 GHz i7 L 640 CPUs, but they throttle down almost by half under sustained load, unless I'm willing to run them as hot as they can handle. I guess that's one of the problems with physically small laptops - they get cooling systems to match. The i7 is great for its era in short bursts, but really falls off a cliff after a minute or so.. Oh well, they were cheap off-lease refurbs that have been useful beaters. |

One of these days I hope to win the HSTB lottery and get some units. It's been months since I've received any.

Polling is not the best attack for the Server. There are enough GPU's to do work, BUT, not all get it. Why polling frequently? That just happens naturally as GPU units get crunched. When there are few enough of them in the queue (typically the case with a GTX 960), BOINC starts getting hungry. |

If you take an average of the number returned over about 10 days you will be very close to the number issued on a daily basis.

It is most unusual to get units daily, or even weekly. Mike |
