I just completed my two first WU's both two days and 14 hrs. Due 11/14 so not too many days to get verification. My machine is a I7 LAPTOP which has more often internet connectivity. My desktops are faster but have less connectivity. Slow is good for badge hunting, especially on projects that dribble out work.

I like turtles. But not at night. Sometimes they are green. Other times they are slow. When I talk to them, we are friends, but I can't swim in flour.

I know this is likely not going to happen, but i have 6 WUs that are going to take longer than the completion time will allow. BOINC didn't learn fast enough that these take a long time and dawdled on some other work too long. I hate to have these resent and miss the work credit. Is there any possibility of getting a deadline extension? (Wus: ARP1_ 0023527_ 005_ 0-- , ARP1_ 0001124_ 005_ 1--, ARP1_ 0019205_ 005_ 1--, ARP1_ 0015114_ 005_ 0--, ARP1_ 0015693_ 005_ 0--, ARP1_ 0010454_ 005_ 0--). To the wingpersons for these WUs - sorry.

If they are running all 6, continue stat and they'll be finishing well before the repairs complete. Could even be they wont have started yet which is when the server sends a cancellation instruction to whoever got them.
Of course, if they've only just started you could consider aborting them, the damage being yours and not someone else's who would be wasting time on duplicate effort. |

I'm almost 2 days into each WU. If they were relatively newly started, your advice would be sound and taken. I don't want anyone blowing computer time because of my computer's sluggishness :). I anticipate that they will be overdue by ~12 hrs.
----------------------------------------(Sigh)Edit: Seems my estimate about the length of time these tasks will be overdue is somewhat optimistic. I think they will be overdue by at least 36 hrs. Edit again: Marked as no reply. Dang it. ![]() [Edit 4 times, last edit by Steve Dodd at Mar 21, 2020 2:23:25 PM] |

If your workunits will be finished before those sent at the moment of yours turning "no reply", you still be fine and get all credits you deserve.

They've all been reissued, but i'm going to let them run to completion. Maybe my machine won't get marked as "unreliable". (Darn it! They were going to get me to my silver badge, too!)
