Great news, Android tasks are back:
We're elated to announce that World Community Grid now has two projects running that can use power from Android devices. Smash Childhood Cancer, which was on hiatus for several months, has now resumed. Additionally, Mapping Cancer Markers is now also compatible with Android devices. |

Hi. I started with new projects for Android and this is great to finally crunch again on Android. But I have a problem, at night when I started with crunching I got first 8 tasks, 1 SCC which is finished and 7 MPM. I run 4 cores of 8, preferences are 100% CPU time, I run it always (when screen is on and on battery), max battery temp 40°C, max used storage space 90%, pause at CPU usage above is set to 0, RAM limit set to 90%.
----------------------------------------My phone is Pocophone F1. 3 MPM tasks are on 53, 54%, 1 is on 27,1% now with elapsed time of 3:20 minutes and 1:41 but this projects started at night?! How it is possible and why this 4 projects go so slow? Do I need to change preferences because I don't know where is the problem. With older MCM tasks on Android was all just fine. Thank you very much on your answer. [Edit 1 times, last edit by StjepanZg at Mar 11, 2020 1:09:06 PM] |

My god. 6 cores out of 8? Do you use it as an iron to smooth your pants when running WCG?

I think the problem is the temperature setting. Usually it is set at 40C, which purpose is to protect the battery from being too hot and catching fire. So, if u use too many cores running at 100% capacity, the temp goes up quite quickly (feel it with your hand) and subsequently stops the calculation. Your phone is in a On-Off-On-Off mode that makes the crunching not as fast as it should be. I only use 1 out of 4 running at 100%. No stop at all. I know it's slow to run with only 1 core. That's why I have 4 Android phones and collecting more from friends when they decide to upgrade their phones to new ones

lol jackielan2000,
----------------------------------------I only ran it this once on the main phone to see the new projects on Android. However, battery temp was reported as 29-30 Celsius, barely noticeable. Usually it's 23 Celsius. ![]() - AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF 6C/12T 3.2 GHz - 85W - AMD Ryzen 5 2500U 4C/8T 2.0 GHz - 28W - AMD Ryzen 7 7730U 8C/16T 3.0 GHz |
