----------------------------------------All the projects are deserving of our help. keep your cores crunching with some of the others, They will cause your machines to update more often and you never know your luck. mcm1 & mip1 are readily available so they can fill the gap with only minimal caches, so not prevent your machines from asking for srp1. i have got to 120 days on arp1 with little more than an 8-thread i7. No need to keep cores empty.
----------------------------------------Just set other projects so all cores are busy but cache is not full. I have cache at 1.5 days and MCM plus MIP counts to fill cache to under a day. Thus the PCs are always asking for work so get ARP when available. Paul.

Hi guys,
----------------------------------------a couple of weeks ago, several people advised here that limiting the number of WUs on a machine would help to fetch more ARP WU's. So I did, keeping available at least 2 cores of 8 on one machine and 2 cores of 16 on the other machine. Obviously the rest of the cores are still dedicated to MIP, MCM, HSTB, and FAH2. The machines ask regularly for work. As mentioned, it is becoming really dispiriting. Cheers, Yves |

There is no advantage with leaving cores unused. If you run 16 units at a time that only take 2-4 hours to complete and only hold a cache of say 18 units, you will be asking for more arp1 units every 7-15 minutes. mcm1 & mip1 units are so available that you only need a minimal cache to keep going and yet keep asking for more arp1. My i7 with 8 threads has profile set to a maximum of 6 arp1, 6 mcm1 & 4 mip1 units. App_config is set to 3 arp1, 5 mcm1 & 3 mip1. That means that when there are no arp1 units, I crunch 5 mcm1 & 3 mip1 with 1 each spare to crunch once each unit is uploading. Any more than 3 arp1 units crunching slows the machine reducing output. The 6 in Device Profiles is to tide over gaps but keeping my machine 'reliable'. Mike |

Hi Mike,
----------------------------------------I've just done it according to your recommendation on one of the i7. I will adjust tomorrow one of the Ryzen at my office. Thank you, Yves ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by KerSamson at Jan 8, 2020 10:11:24 PM] |

We are about to start 002's so I expect some 001 resends to finish them off.

So yeah new record, I had 3 Africas crunching, Then at one time I got SEVEN more! Whoa. With allowing only 5 MIP, I had 10 as an upper limit for arp, I have since made that 11, but the 3 are about done. I don't mind having empty cores, I only run the MIP to slow down my machine so I don't do Africa in 10.5 hours. Since this started, I have almost done a year of MIP even though I had my 5 year badge done. Perhaps this will bring me to 10 years...
----------------------------------------Finally getting my Ryzen 3 3800 back from the shop... I was running 50% cores and it was 75 degrees Celcius… So putting in liquid cooling and hoping I can run the same 5 MIP 11 ARP mix. I had to look up dispiriting, is that like a Brit thing? I knew the word disheartening, but I have recently downgraded my english to 2nd language status. And no I don't have a first one. Spanish is a distant 3rd. Happy New Year all ![]() |

With that combination, there could be capacity problems, especially with checkpoints and up/downloading. Try to stagger the units so that those functions don't happen at the same time. A light touch on the brake of the one behind is all that is needed.
Don't worry about your English. Heart and spirit are very similar. Blame that lot to the South of you for corrupting the language. Mike |

Just received my first 002. Looks like there are plenty of 001s still to arrive.

At 4:17: 04 (start Time) I received ARP1_ 0030526_ 001_ 0 & ARP1_ 0032605_ 001_ 1 yesterday. There appears to be fresh 001 tasks around
