Thank you, Kevin.
4 days have passed since the last report. In that time, the last of the extreme laggards has moved on 4 generations to generation 023, whereas their leader has moved on 2 generations to 032. The last of the main batches has moved on 2 generations to 072. The current leading generation is 109, up 2 from 107. The leader of the extreme laggards is in generation 085 instead of 082, which amounts to 56 extreme laggards instead of 44. The last of the original 6 extreme laggards has caught up by 2 generations; The definition for extreme laggard has been amended from -25 to -24 generations 39,892 units have been validated in the last 4 days (9,973.0 per day), compared with 80,791 results returned, so we have 1,007 more results awaiting validation. As this has been an increase over several reports, it may be that these figures may include some returns that became invalids or errors. 100 is the latest generation identified as labelled 'priority'. 40.2% of the units are in the priority generations. There are now 2,907,343 units to be crunched to finish the project. The average number of results returned over the last 10 days is up again to 20,014.4 per day, so my target for completion is now calculated as 17 August 2022. This assumes no invalids or errors are included in those returns. It is becoming more likely that we will see the project finish before the end of 2022 due to the efforts to close up the laggards. My guess would be October 2022. Mike |

What is the fastest an ARP WU can be done?
on my old machine it takes 14 to 16 hours. since I'm running on 2 CPUs I grabbed an extra 2 before the maintenance outage, so I wouldn't have to bog the machine down trying to get a WU when it first comes back. Did anyone else lengthen the queue before the outage? I really like the long WUs so I don't have to worry to much about running out, but I was curious if anyone had a short enough run time that they needed to grab more for the 6 hour maintenance window. Thanks to Kevin and Mike for the updates. It is exciting to see the finish date approaching. It feels good every time I get an extreme laggard too as I know I'm helping to speed it on to the next gen. |

What is the fastest an ARP WU can be done? on my old machine it takes 14 to 16 hours. I'm getting similar times on a Ryzen 7 1700 clocked at 3.2 GHz. I have that one set to run three ARP units maximum. It's still annoying when a kernel update comes down - finding a time I can reboot it without losing too much work takes some luck. |

I was curious if anyone had a short enough run time that they needed to grab more for the 6 hour maintenance window. If you run enough simultaneously it can necessitate more even without a huge reduction in run time. The Ryzen 5950X takes around 12-14 hours. Running the recommended (threads / 2) -1 as per Mike means 15 are going at once. Taking the longest length that means that each thread does about 1.75 work units per day or about 25 total per day. If the returns were evenly spaced throughout the day that would mean six hours would need a buffer of a quarter of that or around 6.5 (round up to 7). I normally cap downloaded work units at 20 for 15 threads on ARP. (Sorry, Mike; I know you like only one extra.) So perhaps at most 2 threads were deprived but that would have been for a short time. Kevin said initial resends would have been going to reliable machines so it wouldn't have been waiting long for fresh work (I cap MCM to 15 threads on the same machine so it wouldn't have compensated.) ![]() |

Mine take 24 hours and I only run 4 so I didn't need to increase my cache. MCM & OPN take up the other 4 threads and I did have spares there as well.
In the end it finished in 4 hours so no problem. Mike |

I've just noticed that I have program versions 7.27 & 7.32, both ARP1. I had just widened the column.
