In my opinion you should first reset the project and see if that frees the work units. If that doesn't work, reboot the computer. If that doesn't work, then I would abort the units. You should let us know what your operating system is and what are the specifications of your hardware. Also if you could post any messages you have that would also be helpful. With additional information, someone may be able to offer additional help. Good luck.
Cheers

Re: 2 zik taking LONG time to complete, both are over 1day & 7 hrs

I have two Zika WUs that so far have taken 100+ hours to be 92% completed on the first WU and 72% on the second WU. Is this normal?

The hardware: Alienware M17XR4 laptop, CPU Intel i7-3740QM CPU @2.7 GHZ Installed ram 12.0 GB

OS is Windows 10 Version 1809.

Laptop is sitting on a Targus cooling pad with three fans

Re: 2 zik taking LONG time to complete, both are over 1day & 7 hrs

For some reason Zika units can stuck this way, it keeps happening on one of my notebooks while on another one everything seems to be fine.

To "fix" I simply pause BOINC client, exit it and restart till another halting. Very annoying and inefficient since work isn't being done for such units but sadly unable to do anything about it to prevent.

If that would happen on a machine that is not in use on a daily basis that would be a huge loss in a processing power being wasted for nothing just because the client can't process work unit correctly.

Re: 2 zik taking LONG time to complete, both are over 1day & 7 hrs

Hi:
I am curious about the turn around time for Zika WUs using the following hardware:
The hardware: Alienware M17XR4 laptop, CPU Intel i7-3740QM CPU @2.7 GHZ Installed ram 12.0 GB

OS is Windows 10 Version 1809.

Laptop is sitting on a Targus cooling pad with three fans.

What is the turn around that would be realistic?

I would say 1 hour plus or minus 10 minutes for the majority of the work units. There will be a few which are a either somewhat longer or shorter. I am presuming you are using 100% cpu and not having any heat throttling problems. This would be for a Linux OS, Windows might be a little longer.

Re: 2 zik taking LONG time to complete, both are over 1day & 7 hrs

Thanks for your reply Sgt Joe. Would you believe that the new work units are timed to be completed in just over 74 hours. With some WUs it takes 106 hours to finish them.
I have reset the project before I loaded these WUs hoping it would solve this issue.
The next step I am going to take is to uninstall Bonic, reboot my laptop and then install a fresh copy of Bonic.
Would you agree on this course of action?
Clive

Re: 2 zik taking LONG time to complete, both are over 1day & 7 hrs

have you tried checking temps with CPUID HWMonitor? Given it's a laptop, it seems likely that you're having thermal throttling issues, despite the cooling pad. If the heat pipes/heat sink is super dusty in your laptop, temps can run very high relative to what you'd see if everything was free of dust.
