Here is my slim and not completely thought through take on your newspaper cutting, GeraldRube, seen from a what Mr Saul Alinsky might regard as the perspective of a useful idiot with a rudimentary knowledge of the USA and a fairly profound one of Denmark and no useful one of any society where despots [the real and useless idiots] want to create and maintain totalitarianism and suppress people in earnest.
1. Healthcare I cannot see you can control healthcare. a. You can leave it to private interests and establish an insurance system - or not. b. You can decide that everyone should have free and equal access to health care, let it be governed by democratically elected people, and have it financed via the income tax. 2. Poverty This claim seems perverse to me. Who - but sadists - would be interested in increasing the poverty level? 3. Debt Do we talk private debt or public debt? No debt is best. 4. Gun control If nothing threatens you, and you have confidence, you have nothing to defend with guns in your own country. 5. Welfare Mr Saul Alinsky's point of view is too far out for me to follow. I think some propagandists paint their bogey men too vivid. 6. Education We must be talking the old USSR, the Third Reich, Mao's China, right? 7. Religion In my opinion religion should be a private matter altogether - schools may teach what it is about in theory but not indoctrinate or practize any religious beliefs. 8. Class Warfare You can establish a tax system of reasonable solidarity which even the wealthy will find fair. It is a long time since Mr Saul Alinsky died. Finally: I feel so saddened to see the deeper and deeper rifts I sense are forming in the second country I love very much. |
