No I never purchased any MC1 systems, but I have four xu4s which are basically the same thing as a single MC1. Occasionally the site (ameridroid here in the US) has xu4s on clearance as refurbs for a decent savings. I picked up two earlier this year and they were flawless. The MC1s would be space saving though given that they are stacked four high and come with their own cooling fan.

Re: Efficient cruncher build

@joneill003 - thanks for the details.

Anyone here using a miniPC with a Celeron J4105 ?

I'm asking because Odroid H2 is now available but I have no idea on the performance on WCG...

Re: Efficient cruncher build

Odroid N1 project suspended. N2 is considered but no details offered yet...

"At this moment, we can NOT disclose the information about the newer SoC due to the NDA with the chip manufacturer.
I think we can unveil the N2 specification and test results by end of August and start the mass production in September."

Source is a thread on their forum: https://forum.odroid.com/viewtopic.php?f=149&t=31277

Odroid N2 is now available. I've requested the help of the members of the Odroid forum to see how N2 perfoms on WCG.

The thread is here: https://forum.odroid.com/viewtopic.php?f=178&t=34316 and results are expected this weekend/beggining of next week smile

Interesting. From what the thread poster mad_ady is saying, and with the stats from hard kernel website, the N2 stock with passive heatsink runs considerably cooler than the xu4. I have modded my xu4s to have larger copper heatsinks, with a noctua 40mm 5v fan on top which keeps them in the low to mid 60C range at 100% but it is nice to know they are working on the throttling issues that past devices have experienced (my stock xu4s would thermal throttle around 80C)

I have the same problem with the thermal throttle at 80C.
Could you share how many points your XU4 that runs at 100% produces ?

Suppose it's crunching only Zika wu.

Yes they are only crunching zika for a while. When I hit 100 diamond on SCC I switched over to zika. Here are the last 10 days worth of crunching on one of them:
03/29/2019 0:007:16:53:10 11,522 28
03/28/2019 0:008:03:39:53 12,064 30
03/27/2019 0:007:13:21:20 11,261 27
03/26/2019 0:007:18:14:50 11,537 29
03/25/2019 0:007:06:26:46 10,301 25
03/24/2019 0:007:17:04:44 11,024 26
03/23/2019 0:008:07:54:19 12,700 29
03/22/2019 0:008:03:01:00 11,974 29
03/21/2019 0:007:04:50:13 10,462 26
03/20/2019 0:008:09:59:24 12,318 30

It's pretty consistent as you can see. I have 4 of these and they put up similar numbers. If I remember correctly, when I swapped over to copper heatsinks and noctua fans, CPU-Z showed CPU thermals at around 60-65C, and the big.LITTLE chips were maxing out at 1.9 and 1.4GHz, respectively. I've never been able to hit the full 2GHz, but 1.9 is close enough. Before swapping the heatsink and fan, the throttling had the 4 bigger cores bouncing all over the place. Sometimes it would drop below 1GHz.

Re: Efficient cruncher build

@joneill003 - thank you for the update.
Based on your data the XU4 total run time for the period was 1877 hours. Total points: 115163.
This gives 61points/h/core. All 8 cores will produce 11778 points in 24h.

Using the same approach my XU4 and XU4Q have an average of 55 and 56 points/h/core which translates to approx 10650 points in 24h.
To both of them I've added a 5cm fan bought from ebay and I removed the original fan on XU4 because of the noise.
CPU-Z shows 80C and the big cores at 1.4-1.5GHz, little ones at 1.4GHz.

Once I receive more data from N2 user I'll post an update.
