Re: Off-line crunching

Hi,
What do folks use for an easy to read processor clock speed?
Also, if I have a phone with 8 cores, 4 of which are high efficiency and the other 4 are for speed, how do I make sure boinc uses the high speed ones if set to 4?
thanks

Re: Off-line crunching

Halo Jones, ........

OldChap, I brought two power banks with me on my trip. One seemed almost to suck the last power out of my cell phone instead of charging, so I threw that out along with all the little hotel shampoos and body lotions I tend to hoard in order to close in on the carry-on weight limit for the plane. The other one seems pretty reliable. It's a SilverCrest from Lidl.
It says "Battery 3.7V, 5000mAh, 18.5Wh".
So, what do you think I should get to supplement that one?
Low weight is a factor as I carry it in my shoulder bag along with a lot of other stuff needed when walking.

What I got was a 4 cell case like this:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5V-2-1A-USB-4X-1865...=&hash=item33cc599df5
Then put some cheap cells off ebay in it. The downside is they don't charge the phone any more than 2-3 times
You can buy much better cells but often these are not protected so not sure of the implications of this and they cost more. example:
https://www.fasttech.com/product/5641202-auth...inr18650-35e-3-6v-3500mah
or
https://www.orbtronic.com/batteries-chargers/...on-battery-cell-ncr18650b

One of the issues is that there are a lot of fake products out there so finding a source of high capacity (but low current is fine) genuine cells is a job in itself. try to buy nanes like above or LG or Sanyo if you want the best.

Of course you can buy the cheap ones like me and just put up with the lesser performance

EDIT: This particular model of case has auto shut off when charging and discharging so using Flat top batteries should not be an issue. Likewise any battery rated at 10 amps or even 6 amps should not get warm running at around 3 amps or less.
If a single cell is rated at 3500mAh (true rating) having 4 gives 14000mAh capacity.
Most non named manufacturers over estimate this. The £1 each cells on ebay are rated as 5000mAh but are not much over 1500mAh

What is your opinion on Anker products? Are they worth the slightly higher price?
I've been debating grabbing a few of their battery packs - though if I'm missing something please let me know.
Thanks!

Re: Off-line crunching

I have two of their Chargers and would thoroughly recommend them. (older now 6 port 60w)

I have never owned any of their power banks but I would have no qualms buying one
