Paul may be talking about when AMD first released Ryzen. Most of the boards were having major issues just getting them running. Lots of people couldn't even get the systems to POST. If I remember correct, the consensus was that AMD didn't give the mobo manufacturers enough time to build a proper BIOS for the chips. I just built a Ryzen 1700 system about a month ago, and it worked perfect out of the box, no problems.

Check out my host creation date. I was one of the early adopter and ran into a few problems myself. But that's what you're gonna get for being an early adopter. Once you get things right, Ryzen is very good if not best for WCG in terms of output/cost/efficiency.
----------------------------------------You can build a 1600X Ryzen system that can pump out 17K BOINC points/day with a mild overclock for around $500-$600. Find me an Intel system that can do the same for the same price. |

assumption, assumption is all you can do.
----------------------------------------Try to pull stats from WCG for my device on those dates to see if I made it up or not Device ID = 3839262 and those are not even my best 10. I just random picked some 10 days so you can have a wet dream about it :) |

The best days are not meaningful but the daily average for a couple of weeks.

Wow. Y'all need to chill. This thread was talking about ryzen processors dropping in price, not some "my cpu is better than yours" thread. If you want to discuss points per dollar, or points per cpu, or points per watt, find a thread in the chat room to get locked down.
I am by no means a fanboy of either intel or amd. My last two builds happen to be amd, but before that were mostly intel. I do prefer nvidia gpus over amd, but that is neither here nor there. Please be civil, and stop the nonsense so we can get back to our regular scheduled programming. Thank you. |

It could possibly be a quirky chip. Sounds like that is the common denominator, the CPU. If a mobo swap (and assuming your PSU is sending clean voltage) then that would be my next guess. |
