OK first off I'm not itchin about it (add a letter)
----------------------------------------I chose to crunch and it's still crunching. Just a warning, if your gonna leave your phone plugged in all the time, you might wanna remove the cover/case so there is air circulating. People are talking about the new curved screens.... while my screen is now curved as it has come up about 3 mm on one side. Luckily my contract is up in 3 months it will be time for a new phone, and I will just let this one crunch til it dies using wifi. I don't think I'll crunch my new phone, because I might actually get a job and need it ![]() Again, not mad, and it COULD be a defect, or because it has to be plugged in 24/7 to crunch. I dunno, just wanted to let the world know. ![]() |

One of the first actions I did when installing BOINC on tablet was to lower the battery temp setting from default (45?) to 35C and still caught it pausing when recently found it sun bathing.

Same thing happened to me about a year ago and the problem was the battery swelling. Took it to the phone store and told them I left it in the car (which I actually did one time) and they replaced the battery for FREE under warranty. After replacing the battery, the screen fell back into place.

It does kill the life of the battery BTW. I replaced my battery once (it...expanded) and already the replacement battery doesn't hold much of a charge compared to when it was new. I run Boinc when I sleep (my alarm clock) and run it during the work day meaning it is on and active waaay more than off/not crunching.
----------------------------------------Since it does like to heat up quickly, and as I need to unplug it randomly during the day, I only run 1 core so I can hopefully get to the next checkpoint before unplugging it and lose my progress. ![]() |

My external 6000mAh power-pack took care of that issue... crunching while cycling and still 100% charge of the internal battery on return [The tablet has MapMyRide on it, which drains the battery almost as much as crunching, together get about 5 hrs out of the pair.]

Instead of the battery you could recharge your gadgets by hooking them up to a bicycle dynamo. Of course the crunching may be a bit erratic, flying through the units whilst descending the Italian equivalent of Alpe d'Huez and grinding to a halt going up it.

Traveled with a bulging back-panel and some canvas tape to hold the stuff together for a while, which gave interesting scenes at security controls at airports, forgetting to power it down and put it in the carry-on baggage check machine. Adding that I'd been at agriturismo locations [which is true] made them even more suspicious... we cycle every possible country trail there is to be found [next bike will have a USB port on the steering wheel, fed by the dinahmoe-hum] :O)
Our main conglomerates to tour is the central Apennines Maiella and Gran Sasso groups [where there is out-of-space research deep below the granite strata... linked to CERN]... but now we're truly totally off the topic track :D |

I generally put my tablet that is used for crunching only near an ac vent in the summer to keep it cooler. My upstairs vents are on the floor, so propping it up against the wall next to the vent keeps it nice and cool.
