Hi all,
When I first installed BOINC on my computer, I chose to run it as a normal application instead of as an automatic service. I have changed my mind now, and I want to set it up as a service. Is it possible to change this, or do I have to uninstall and reinstall BOINC? Thanks! |

Uninstall, then install again. Somewhere in the 3rd or 4th installer screen there's an Advanced button where you can select service.
Recommend to tick 'Allow all users' as well, as else only the admin account can connect the BOINC GUI Manager with the service client. |

BTW, in principle, if you point the BOINC data dir path in those 'Advanced' options to the same data-dir, your 'service' can continue to crunch on the same work you had in progress.

Thank you for your reply! I have now done as you suggested.
I let BOINC finish all ongoing tasks and not accept new ones first. |
