Any news or speculation on future progress when we can start crunching? It has been speculated that the beta for CEP2 will resume after the current FightAIDS@Home betas are through. [Edit 1 times, last edit by deltavee at Nov 26, 2016 12:19:48 PM] |

Any news or speculation on future progress when we can start crunching? It has been speculated that the beta for CEP2 will resume after the current FightAIDS@Home betas are through. It appears that there's no beta WUs being sent since 2 or 3 days ago. Any update on an upcoming CEP2 beta? |

It just occurred to me, and perhaps this is the wrong place for this, but if a computer had enough RAM, instead of writing to the disk all the time, couldn't it store stuff in RAM and use the disk less? It would help with computers that have an ssd, as well as some machines that just have trouble handling the load. My computer has far more RAM than it has ever used, to the point where its almost ridiculous. I don't even remember the last time half of the RAM on my laptop was in active use.

We have been discussing this for almost a decade. A search on "ramdisk" reveals two such threads. https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,30244_offset,0 https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg...ead,37285_offset,0#471313 |

I see. I never thought to look for that. As soon as CEP2 goes back online, I will definitely take a shot at using that.

sorry but i do not understand this Project. Since a Long time there are any new WUs for us to crunch but there is a Deadline for the end of this Project in Aug. 17.

@[SG-FC]Hammerburg
----------------------------------------The estimated completion dates you saw here aren't very realistic. Those dates come from several different numbers including how much known WUs are left, the speed of WUs processed, and I assume other information. The scientists are having a difficult time making good WUs, so until the fix the problem we can only wait. The last WUs returned to WCG were in May 2016, so no new WUs have come for a very long time. ![]() |
