I miss my solar system
----------------------------------------Can't afford to buy a house where I live now. (A similar house to what we had is 600K+) There is this which I'm looking into... https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/alberta-s-first-solar-co-op#/ Once they roll it out you can actually invest and get a small dividend. My doctor, lol, is planning the geothermal/solar/tesla house... Guess I shoulda went to college for 10 years ![]() |

It says "once this project is done **WE** plan to replicate it..." I would find out who **WE** are and how much they get out of it and if **WE** have invested any of their own personal funds into the project...

Yeah except for the guy who fed people to his pigs,
----------------------------------------I pretty much trust the Canadians. Even if their good intentions are a little lopsided sometimes. Like the energy company that uses solar panels to pull the same dirty a$$ oil out of the ground... The plan is to use solar to power the pump jacks, then when the oil runs out, pull the pumps and put up more solar and feed it to the grid... Why not just buy a tesla or leaf or volt or bolt when it comes out.... skip the black stuff. Oh, there is SUNPORT. You pay like 80 bucks and get a little yellow plug that tracks how much power you are using, and creates demand for more solar power. So you and 10,000 of your closest friends are creating more solar projects. As to clean crunching, when the sun was fairly high up, I was probably powering my house and 4 or 5 others next to me. I own a volt now and love driving down the hill to town, drive around, make a couple stops and drive back up the hill (there's where the power draw comes in) and it costs me maybe 10 or 15 cents. Screw fusion, ecat, lenr whatever, that massive reactor in the sky is where it's at! Natcore solar has several advances that should come to production this year (they plan to lease their machines to current solar manufacturers and get a cut off each panel produced with them). They can cut out the 1500 degree furnace, reducing the energy footprint to make panels dramatically. They have made the panels blacker, from reflecting around 4 percent down to like .6% so better efficiency. Replaced the silver usage (up to 3/4 of an ounce per panel) to 5 FREAKIN CENTS OF ALLUMINUM. I am kinda pissed about that one because I had been buying silver based on tremendous growth in solar production. So about 8 years ago, I invested in Natcore and have held on to this TIGHT. I have hope, that if solar drops up to a third by the end of the decade, the south west will be like screw the utility company, I'm setting up my own on the roof and in the garage (battery backup) I think we will be seeing many more local Co-ops banding together and selling to each other. I believe the gov will have to step in and breakup utilities like they did to old Ma Bell. All they are good for is keeping the maintenance on the lines, and charging 60 bucks in fees for $20 of energy. My natural gas bill was only $28 in the summer months. Too bad I turned off the gas for 6 months and that $28 bucks was just for being connected to the gas line. Seriously considered disconnecting for 6 months and paying the $100 hook up fee each year. Now I'm just angry and won't be able to sleep now.... ![]() ![]() |

Ooooookkkkkkk...... :o)
----------------------------------------I hate "infrastructure " charges as well. I don't pay grocery stores or gas stations a monthly charge to sell their products to me. Their costs are all in the product price where it should be. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jun 27, 2016 3:33:04 AM] |

OK well some good news on the solar front.
----------------------------------------As I said before, stuck in a townhouse with a HOA that wont let solar (or anything). Moving to a new townhouse that does NOT have a HOA. Not the best roof for solar but will catch east and west and overhead. (maybe 70% as efficient as southern exposure?) Won't be able to power entire house and car. Oh yeah, bought a TESLA Thing slurps up the electrons, but a 350 km range fillup is like 5 bucks. (free if I'm supercharging on trips) Actually if I'm making solar while charging, it's cheaper because I skip the distribution charges. So the electric bill has gone up with the Tesla, but it's STILL cheaper than a month of gas would be, even including all the crunching/tv/cooking etc. ![]() |

So my province, ALBERTA
----------------------------------------voted in the NDP, uh socialists I guess is best word to explain that. Well they started a carbon tax, and just put out in the last day or 2, that 35 million will go to residential solar. Up to 30% off of solar, things are looking up! ![]() |

Same thing for electricity in my Croatia from 01.06.2017....only we produce 40-60% of electricity from renewable sources NOW! & already have "carbon tax" that goes into one agency...lots of money came missing out of it! ![]() |

I'm so jealous of all of you who live in places with at least reasonable politicians when it comes to clean energy and climate science...

You STILL have a solar rebate in the US,
----------------------------------------should take advantage of it if you can. ![]() |
