What do you mean? Solar powered crunching -> using solar power to produce electricity & crunch?!

Re: Solar/Wind

I'm fairly sure Hypernova's solar power system also gave power to the crunchers he had...

Using solar and/or wind to power your crunchers...

1% of my country electricity comes from wind power...so yes, I've done it in 1% volume! wink

though, I'm thinking about running R Pi0 on solar power?! cool

Re: Solar/Wind

I have three thousand watts worth of solar and battery power.

Even with the winter months in the northern hemisphere, the still limited daylight is able to keep the batteries completely charged. Also consider that my area is SW Pennsylvania, an area not exactly known for being the ideal sunlight conditions. Yet even during fully clouded skies, even during rain, etc... The system still functions perfectly.

The solar/battery set-up powers three low power computers/tablets - able to run indefinitely.

Yet that is not the main function of the set-up. It's primary initial function is to power a 1500w (although typically not tasked out as such) computer server that mines BitCoin. Given the configuration and recent rates - I've never earned less than one thousand per month. Unfortunately those numbers would lose half value if the system was needing to be plugged in.

Re: Solar/Wind

Sort of, we have a 21m high Gaia wind turbine throwing out about 40,000Kw/h a year that we offset against our business/domestic usage so I guess that covers the 6 machines that crunch that are in virtual 24/7 usage.

Nice MrHasselblad and Paul D ;)

Lol Klik, then I guess my crunchers were 95% clean energy powered in February of 2016 haha

well, my average also comes to almost 30% of renewable sources over a year...mostly from water! biggrin

but, wasting $50 on solar powered R Pi0...why?!
for that I get 1750kWh of electricity in my country...for that I can power R Pi0 for 6m!
wink
