Easier way is to set the buffer to a day, choose HSTB & FAAH2 only. How do I choose separately for 1. My laptop 2. My phones - of which Mr Jones - the old one - only has one core and very limited specifications altogether, and mainly is fed Zika from the WCG server while the new one - Saphir12-Nathalie - tolerates a more varied diet. If I choose HSTB & FAAH2 only, I assume that will go for all three of my 'devices' and that would in essence exclude Mr Jones. He would hate that - he loves his new life as a cruncher |

This fiddling with work queues and buffers, doesn’t that take a lot of attention and/or time? Less time than writing one of your long post. Since HSTB is available only limited periods of time, you wanted your device(s) running other project(s) while waiting for HSTB work. That what the steps I posted above do. Get one device working, then move on to the next. ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by BladeD at Apr 29, 2018 9:56:33 AM] |

Less time than writing one of your long post. That could be worse. Get one device working, then move on to the next. I cannot see how I can make separate settings for the phones. Seems as if the settings I make at the BOINC Manager will take care of all 'devices'. I have looked at the 'Device Manager' which let me choose different profiles, but not choose tasks for them on an individual basis.Still, I'll give it a try and see what happens - usually you learn something along the way and bump into new questions - but fearing that my phones will be out of work, which I don't want. Thank you for your patience, BladeD |

I'm talking about BOINC Manager running on the device (ie. PC) which only control that device.

LM,
----------------------------------------Your phone should be set to a different Profile from your computers. From the website, My Contribution My Projects Device Manager Selected Projects ( url link name for your computers) Click on the WCG projects you want to crunch) Then Save Selected Projects profile name for your phone should be a different name Click on the WCG projects you want to crunch for your phone, Then Save On your computer, in BOINC Manager, find computing preferences (maybe under Tools) Network Usage, change the min work buffer and the max additional work buffer. Click OK ![]() |

your phone should be set to a different Profile from your computers. They are. Two x android - one thinkpad. No problem. From the website, So far, so good. My Contribution My Projects Device Manager But Selected Projects ( url link name for your computers) that's where I get stuck. My page looks like this and I cannot see I have any choices of projects. If I KLiK profile - in this case 'home' I get this that also gives me no choices of projects. Where do I lose my way? What do I do wrong? Ahh! You taught us a logics lesson this morning - are you with Scotland Yard? You say 'a different Profile' Would that mean I should 'create' one - I would rather not or could I set the phones at a standard 'school' profile? Still, if I try that, I don't see I get a page with choices of projects to select. Roger over |

My page looks like this and I cannot see I have any choices of projects. Click on Device Manager and you should see a list of your devices. For each device, it should show which profile it's using. Click on the profile to see the choices of projects. |

Click on Device Manager and you should see a list of your devices. For each device, it should show which profile it's using. Click on the profile to see the choices of projects. When I KliK the profile- all three very creatively set to the same: 'home' I get no choice. Only this I need to air my head and what attaches to it. See you later. |

When you click Device Manager, you should get a page that has 4 columns:
----------------------------------------Agent Name; Device Name; Selected Profile; Date Installed & Registered; Next row should be: BOINC; Computer name eg PC1; Profile name eg Default; 12/25/2014 20:00:01 BOINC; PC2; work; 12/27/2016 12:00:12 So the first device is called PC1 and is running profile Default. The second device is called PC2 and is running profile work. The different profiles can then be set to run different WCG projects, therefor the computers will run different projects. My laptop runs a different profile to my quad core desktop. And when I had my phone crunching, I set it to a different profile for that. I set different profiles for different types of device as they can't crunch in time due to HW and crunching time. ![]() |
