It is now April 20 and I have yet to see a work unit, unless it went by too fast to notice (not likely). 64-bit Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.7. Runs lots of other WCG tasks as well as ClimatePrediction,SetiAtHome, ....

Fortunately, the long estimated times for HST isn't very accurate. The actual time, for example, for one WU is an hour and 20 minutes while the estimated time for that WU was 36 hours and is now 23 hours.

Allen008,
----------------------------------------Ensure below is set to YES in profile(s) to avoid losing time on suspend: Leave applications in memory while suspended? Paul.

Allen008, that is exactly the method that I have been using on Windows. Should be the same for Apple. The penalties for suspending and restarting the running tasks is relatively small, so I also don't worry about them. Usually only a few minutes. If you look at the times that your new tasks were sent, they will probably be 3 minutes or 33 minutes after the hour if they are "new" tasks. I have gotten some resends at 9 minutes past the hour but the 3 and 33 are the best time to hunt for tasks. Easy to do. Just go to Boinc Manager, Projects tab, highlight WCG, and a few seconds after 3 or 33 past the hour, hit the update button. If you wait too long, it is too late.

I've been able to get 15 HST WUs since the beginning of the project (I'm not really chasing after this project at the moment, trying to make the the diamond in OET)... What I do is let my 1 day queue fill up with OET and then go to the device manager, deselect OET and select only HST. I usually pick up 1 or 2 HST WUs during the course of 1 day and I eventually switch back over to OET. My last 2 HST WUs were short... only lasted 3 hours (they were resends).

Hopefully it will eventually speed up...
----------------------------------------It irks when you have to sit and beg for WUs. That said I'm waiting for the 33 to try and snag some ![]() EDIT: SUCCESS 7 new work units!!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Jack007 at Apr 20, 2016 11:34:05 PM] |

There are plenty of tasks available for other research areas. I'm curious why people are so absorbed with this one. People like new shiny things. I mean who wants last year Iphone, right? +1 |

Got a _2 T350 of batch 891 repair, on the lone crunching laptop, so guess we're into the 900+ series now. Nothing much happening in the quantitative... 50 * 2 * 48 = 4800 new units per day, the project showed actually 6490 validations yesterday at under 12 hours average, maybe a little backlog catch-up.

Batch 895 at 10:03 GMT were all T000 types, probably the short ones.

No need to update every 121 seconds. Just request at about 3 and 33 minutes past each hour. 100 tasks are released each half hour by script. I load up about a days worth of other tasks then set HST only and 2 days. After a few tries as above I get enough to last a day or 2. Paul. Thanks for tipping, it works somehow (got first2 WU since beginning) But how you could figure this out? J ![]() |
