I have got 3.
----------------------------------------The first two have passed their first hour at 4 %, i.e. an estimated 25 hours total on a slightly overclocked Q6600 under Ubuntu 15.04. As far as I can remember that doesn't seem much faster than the previous betas on the same machine. And it is still slower than the production WUs running under Windows 8.1 on an i5-4200U Tthrottled at 75-80 % (usually much slower than the Q6600 for OET1). |

On an i3-3220 I am finding a good speedup.
----------------------------------------Production WUs are taking about 22 hours on this machine. Fedora 17 Boinc 7.7.0 x86_64-pc-linux-gnu (locally compiled) The first Beta is already at 25% and looks headed for about 13-14 hours if it continues at the same pace... Edit.Three Betas in total on this machine. All completed valid. Average time 14.4 hours as opposed to production's average of 22 hours. A nice improvement.

Hi,
----------------------------------------I've just got 12 WUs (2x 6) for the both Phenom II x6 running Ubuntu 14.04 x64. I've started them now, average announced duration 15.5 hours. I will keep you in touch. Yves |

I did an extrapolation on runtimes for the following computers:
----------------------------------------AMD-5350 Ubuntu 14.04 64-bit: Production wu: ~40 hrs. Beta wu extrapolation: ~25 hrs. (3:34:39 and 14.075% progess) i7-980x Ubuntu 14.04 64-bit: Production wu: ~25 hrs. Beta wu extrapolation: ~18-19 hrs. (2:03:02 and 10.741% progress --> 19 hrs, 1:22:55 and 7.794% --> ~18 hrs) Seems that there is a better performance than before and the runtime difference compared to windows decreases. Let's see what the final results will reveal... |

That's looking much better, Jonathan.
----------------------------------------I've FAH2's and the new BETA's running at the same time in one view with their runtimes so far and the progress. It's obvious that these BETA's are running faster on Linux now. Version ................................... Elapsed .... CPU .... Progress ...... The extrapolation of some other beta wu show similar estimated runtimes around 18-19 hours per wu.
----------------------------------------That is much faster than before (around 24-25 hours per wu) and a big improvement with room for more... as on windows with comparable hardware runtimes are around 13 hours per wu. |

After reading Eric Kaiser's numbers I tried to better remember my previous linux betas, and in fact it's much possible that they were between 30 and 36 hours (indeed that would be why I have decided to not run FAH2 on my Linux machine).
----------------------------------------Therefore the estimated 25 hours for my current betas is a serious improvement. But again it seems that we are still far from what it should be. Therefore I wonder, armstrdj, have you tried to build and test a 32-bit module for Linux too ? Maybe this application is definitely more efficient in this configuration ? |

I got 36 of the new betas and it appears by extrapolationit appears they are going from 40+ hours to around 25 hours. I have one machine with the betas running at the same time as a regular FAH2 unit (I don't know how that sneaked in there), all started at the same time. Will see how they progress. Running Linux Mint 14,16 and 17.
----------------------------------------Cheers

Therefore I wonder, armstrdj, have you tried to build and test a 32-bit module for Linux too ? I'm running 32-bit linux, so it's certainly there. A machine that averaged about 60 hrs for its last two WUs has hit the 10% mark in this beta at 3.5hrs. If it continues at the same rate, this will be a massive improvement. |
