In a perfect world... Can see an issue why not, but one way or the other what is send-up and what is put through the validator rules has to be identical. As there's on-the-fly compression during transmission, it strikes me as it being better to send-up uncompressed trickle files, distributed load to the client side. The dilemma is of course this requiring a new app and a new app causing a transitional period where trickles with and without compression are transmitted, new validator set probable called for.
Just a 2 rupees Lobby Boy thought. |

@uplinger ;
I connect my spare office rig by my phone to internet. It has to go oflline during weekends and holidays. Please make the project more offline friendly by relaxing "%70 before 24H to deadline" issue. deadline is deadline, it does not make any sense scraping a WU before deadline. WU time frame is already very tight compared to other projects. Otherwise FAAH will be in danger of loosing all offliners like me. |

Has the >=70% trickled up, < 24 hours due [soft stop?] rule been reactivated?

@SekeRob
I did not know such a rule existed until I have read your comment (First page second post). No post regarding the deactivation of rule after that. So is it active or inactive? I just dumped all my FAAH WU's and switched to other Projects inoder to save My Science contribution time. (not interested in points, contribution time is important for the sceince to move forward..) |

You only need to read the chronology of uplinger posts [very easy to filter in search]. My thinking is, because there was the expressed 80% minimum [80K steps] to make a result useful to the scientists, the rule has not been reactivated [it was de-activated per uplinger last I've seen], and it's simply 96 hours deadline to get the 100K steps in.

Safak,
The soft stops have not be re-enabled. mweisensee, I will look into it. I've seen a decrease in invalids on the system for FAHB work units, But I will see if there is something still getting caught. Thanks, -Uplinger |

Maybe the decrease is due to the fact that not connected people are not running FAH2 tasks anymore
---------------------------------------- Personally, the only time my machine got disconnected when ending a FAH2 task, it got invalid ( it was 3 or 4 days ago....)

Hi all,
I can confirm that the offline issue is still occurring. Around a half dozen FAH2 units were downloaded just before the weekend, with maybe one or two of them sending early trickle messages and uploads. Every single unit has just returned invalid. Total CPU time wasted: 173.08 hours from 6 available threads with 3019.2 credits claimed and rejected, according to results page. This is frustrating and disconcerting for me to say the least, and I imagine it must be equally difficult for admins and scientists to be getting this many error results. |

It's the WCG techs that set this up so they knew what to expect. The scientists never see these errors. They only get completed results. |
