Poor Points Performance

I am rather disappointed with the points credit granted for FAH2. On my system (2 quad core and 1 dual core MAC computers), I am taking 24 to 30 hours per WU for an average points haul of 15 per CPU hour. Other projects such as OET yield 20 points per CPU hour. Why is FAH2 so low? My User Average has dropped from over 11,000 to around 10,000 and is still falling. My stats show a performance drop from 112 Gflops down to ~100 Gflops.

I know that every WU is of benefit to the community but why the low rewards?

Re: Poor Points Performance

Processing time on FAH2 on MAC and Linux is significantly bigger than on Windows, however you receive the same amount of points. Techs are already aware about the situation, a fix is on the way.

Re: Poor Points Performance

Right. That's the cause. The runtime is much longer on Linux and OSX, but credits are the same.
My windows computer needs ~13 hrs/wu with a credit of ~370 equals 25+ credits/hr.
Linux: ~25 hrs/wu with a credit of ~370 equals 14+ credits/hr.

But the techs are working on it as you can see in the linked threads/posts. I'm not sure if the fix is for OSX, too, or if they are working on Linux fix first.

Re: Poor Points Performance

Would there be any way that project preferences could be set for individual boxes?

. . . that would solve many of these issues.

Not for individual boxes, but you can set up groups and separate the Windows & Linux/Mac boxes that way, giving each group a different rule-set.

No and Yes. You've got 4 standard profiles to which individual hosts can be associated, each having their own project sub selections. There's an 'involved' way to create more profiles, the manual posted by moonian.

Thanks for the insight, I will try that when I get really bored and can muster the anointing. . . .
