Re: Gridcoin giweaway

Personally, I wouldn't waste the effort creating a wallet and trying to keep it secure. None of these altcoins are going anywhere and that includes bitcoin.

Well people made hundreds of thousands in bitcoins.....
I'm still kicking myself for not starting when it started.

Edit: Made about $400 off ripple if I remember right.
Spent about ZERO on it.

well, u can still made lots of money on BitCoin...just use some R Pi or sthg similar... wink

that's a nice sum for a new gadget...or upgrade for the old 1!
cool

Research Ponzi scheme and its variations. Early investors made out like bandits (which they usually were) and left latest investors holding the bag when the scheme collapsed.
Next look up the definition of altruism.
Cheers

their team is making about 300d per day..

& they have a nice team here:
http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/team/viewTe...amp;numRecordsPerPage=250

btw, u wouldn't know Ponzi scheme if it was closer 2 u...maybe u should read more about: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ponzi_scheme
cool

& no investment isn't necessary in Gridcoin... wink

Re: Gridcoin giweaway

I also did litecoin, sold like 3 or 4 at 23 bucks apiece.
It's now 2 bucks or so.
If I hadn't moved from my house that had solar,
I would do solar coin
(They give you one for each megawatt they produce)
The panels have done about 16 megawatts in 2 years.
No idea if they are worth anything or just fun to have.
litecoin 2.90 ish
bitcoin 233
can't find solar, website I was looking on just went down lol

Re: Gridcoin giweaway

And by the way,
I've spent thousands (as many of you have)
upgrading & running as many as 4(computers) at a time.
So if I can get a little scratch back I'm in.
If I make nothing off Gridcoin,
I've also lost nothing.
After I get back this weekend i'll try it let you guys know how it works.

Edit: a clarification.

That's bulls***. Google 'bitcoin mining calculator' and plug in the numbers - assuming that you even understand what they mean.

Because of how difficulty increases, only the newest, highest hashing ASICs have a chance to make any money and those are always pre-mined before they are offered for sale. Even then, the price for the hardware can never be recovered unless there is a significant increase in price.

The only people who get involved in this crap are the ones that don't understand how easily the altcoin markets are manipulated and who don't have any money to put into actual investments.

Granted, if you'd got involved in bitcoin when you could still use a gpu to mine, you might have made some money. But bitcoin is the only altcoin that has actually gained any credibility and that was only because it was seen as being anonymous and untraceable. In fact, it's neither.

well, no to bold!

BitCoin is funded by a pair of untraceable pairs in cryptic algorithms...right now, that most of the easiest ones have been depleted, only the hard ones exists...so it's hard 4 u or any1 else to get a cryptic pair that exists & works, as the binary code gets larger & larger...

but if it's 2 expensive 4 u, there's a way:
http://www.xbian.org/raspberry-pi-2-giveaway/
http://www.htpcguides.com/raspberry-pi-nas-media-server-giveaway-sep-2015/
cool

not to of to OT:
Gridcoin gives back some money 4 a return of doing science...I'm not going 2 get participating in a giveaway for WCG, 'cause I have to lead my own team of a non-profit board...
but some computers of mine work on SETi@home...on those 3-4 GPUs there is about 2/3 of all my CPU power on WCG...so there I've joined Gridcoin team & expect about $30-40 per month...
enough for a new Xeon CPU 4 a linux which is running on WCG...or maybe a GTX 740 ?!
cool

Re: Gridcoin giweaway

Well,
this wallet is taking it's time.
I have 1.15 GRC for now.
Hopefully as I crunch here @ WCG
it starts to add.

EDIT: nope it appears I need to have 500 coins or something.
Hopefully they will be retroactive.
My address is
S74EQjCsyKsRcQjwskLkMCjfifMRkFs7w3
if someone can stake me,
and let me know what the minimum is.
I'd be happy to send it back and then some,
when they start rolling in. biggrin

let me help u out than...

- here is a small video, how to make Gridcoins & setup:
https://youtu.be/jX78dSvg8kg

- also, you'd have to be in a Gridcoin team (in a project that you want to get GRC from)...I'm also not doing it on WCG, but am doing it on a SETi@home ...

- try to get 500GRC in one of the "Faucet"s:
http://www.gridcoin.us/Guides/acquire-grc.htm
if it doesn't work out, I can lend you 200GRC... wink

- also, you have to have 100+RAC in a project in which you decide to crunch for GRC...

- to speed up re-building blocks, you can download blocks also!

- you have to have Gridcoin wallet always ON!

- & you have make introduction...see this thread, it will help out:
https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/20303-gridco...tion-sync-problem-thread/

Re: Gridcoin giweaway

Wow,
what a pain in the *#)(
I have a wallet,
been through the tutorial couple times.
guessing I have to wait until the stats update
to get the US faucet coins.
Got the wallet synced once,
now I'm trying to get it to sync again.
lost the 2 coins or so that I got from the asia server.

Re: Gridcoin giweaway

well, yes...it's too had to use it! wink
maybe on purpose...so that only experts use it?! confused

also, you have to be on a team Gridcoin in one of these "white-list projects "! Don't see that you are in those from BOINCstats...

& have you put your advertise beacon ?
Register your CPID to the DPOR system via advertising a beacon:
Note: A small balance of GRC is required in order to advertise your beacon (a smart transaction) in the DPOR system (currently costs approx 0.0011 GRC).
Temporarily, fully unlock (not for staking only) your wallet to allow for the beacon to be sent in the next step now.
Navigate to the debug console (Help | Debug window | Console), enter the command "execute advertisebeacon" (Or wait for the beacon to be sent automatically).
An small outbound smart transaction (approx 0.0001 GRC) will be sent from your wallet (this is the beacon). If this outbound transaction does not appear, your beacon has not been advertised & you should repeat the above steps before proceeding.
Once you've confirmed that the outbound smart transaction has been sent, you should lock your wallet then unlock your wallet for 'staking only' to begin securely staking.

Wait until your CPID is included in the next superblock
There are two superblocks created daily to register new users & update user BOINC stats, so it could take up to 12hrs before your CPID is registered fully.
Navigate to the debug console (Help | Debug window | Console), enter the command "execute beaconreport".
In the output, search for your CPID. If not present, wait until the next superblock. When your CPID is present, continue to the next step.
If after a several superblocks your CPID is still not present, retry advertising your beacon.

Re: Gridcoin giweaway

KLik's good explanations has convinced me that gridcoin is not the direction in which I wish to go and will not join any of the artificial currencies. To quote a northern England expression "Tha's Faffing about i((^*&$*($)" the rest of quote would have me barred from the forum's. smile
