Yup, I am looking into that now. It appears that for a time being we were getting validate errors, which is not normal. I am looking into it and I'll let you know what I find.
Thanks, -Uplinger |

Thanks, -Uplinger Keith, Don't know if this will help but the tasks I had marked as errors were all returned on 9/28/15 between 03:46:46 and 06:14:33. I had tasks marked as valid before and after those 2 times but none as valid between those 2 times.
In 1969 I took an oath to defend and protect the U S Constitution against all enemies, both foreign and Domestic. There was no expiration date.

Yeah, I found the problem. I have updated the validator to hopefully catch this instance properly and move forward towards validation. It is something I will be watching for in the future. I will be marking those results with validate error to try again here shortly so I can monitor the results.
Thanks, -Uplinger |

Hi, I'm having some issues with WUs not finishing. First happened yesterday: BETA_FAHB_avx17556_000050_0012_002 was at 100% after 15h, ran for another 7h, then showed status "Postponed: Waiting to acquire lock". Ran for a few seconds, then went back to waiting, cycle repeated. Aborted it. Today, it seems to be the same with BETA_FAHB_avx38783-ls_000056_0012_005. 100% after 15h, now continuing on for over 3h. No problems with other Beta WUs on this host (3276122) and none at all on the other hosts. Should I leave it running?

Hi, I had this problem the other day. After restarting my device, everything was back to normal and the WU finished turning out valid.

Thanks, Carsten! It worked. WU was still there after restarting, frozen. After clicking on "suspend", it disappeared and is now valid! I now know what to do, should have tried this easy solution earlier. Still wonder what the cause might be though...

Thanks, -Uplinger The 1 resend I received from those validation error tasks has finished and been validated. Hopefully the rest that are still in error purgatory will turn valid too.

As reported on previous Beta, 4 concurrent running cause user impairment, there being a seeming correlation between progress and increase of said. Now at > 70% suspending BOINC makes typing this message in Firefox and working in Office normal, no jittery mouse / cursor, sometimes it taking multiple seconds before input actually takes. Is there excessive disk accessing to cause this? It's curious, more so because the lower CPU temps suggest there's more wait states... nearly 6 hours have gone towards the system idle process. Process Explorer shows them at 77% and 20:50 hours have each done over 11,250 writes to disk. That's 45,000 writes, or 1 write per 1.67 seconds for these 4 concurrent. Way to much, a none adherence of the Write to Disk setting at 300 second at most.

@Sekerob FWIW the machine I'm typing this response on is running 8 concurrent tasks without any of the issues you're seeing. Could you have something running in the background that might be causing your problem? Could it be Process Explorer itself?

What is not clear about 'suspending BOINC makes typing this message in Firefox and working in Office normal, no jittery mouse / cursor"? It was the reason to investigate with Process Explorer, that showing there are that many writes... 1,67 per second for 4 or 7.2 seconds interval for 1.
----------------------------------------BTW over the same period, there were 2500 reads, each Beta task. Swap file use is minimal, memory use just 1.6GB overall for the whole system of 8GB. Page faults is minimal, Delta zero. Oh yes, W7-64, but the Bedam apps are 32 bit, same as with previous test. [Edit 2 times, last edit by SekeRob* at Sep 28, 2015 8:03:26 PM] |
