I currently have two PC doing WCG work. One using Win7 O/S and one using LinuxMint O/S.
----------------------------------------Both are set to BOINC Device Profiles - Device Profile Name - Default, as for as I can tell. My problem is that only one PC (the LinuxMint) is currently downloading 7.10 Beta Test WUs. How do I get the second PC to also start downloading the Beta Test WUs? Thanks |

The same way as the first ;).
If there's none coming, there's none in the feeder at the time of the work request. Given there's only been a few thousand per day on 1.4 million total work units sent out each day, chances are coincidental and slim. |

Thanks, Rob for the response.
----------------------------------------It has been years since I originally setup to receive Beta WUs. Saying "same way as the first" really doesn't help. Are you saying that if one is setup up then both are setup? I have trouble remembering what I did yesterday. What should I check to verify that both PCs are seen by WCG as available to receive Beta Test WUs? [Edit 1 times, last edit by Highlander_6596 at Aug 31, 2015 5:32:41 PM] |

The question is of platform binding, also in the case of this science app. If there was a preceding set of N reported for the Linux platform, it's likely the follow on set, generation X, is also bound to Linux, where the competition is much smaller than on Windows, even smaller on MAC.
----------------------------------------If you set up beta and ticked all profiles to be candidate years ago, they are still candidate to participate, so if you have both devices on Default, thet are both enrolled ;>) (Have no cures to offer for Alzheimer lite, though in the news was yesterday, that proteins are good for you, lots of proteins, be it animal or vegetable) BTW, member since May 6, 2014 and it being years ago is indeed a memory gland problem [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Aug 31, 2015 5:42:04 PM] |

The Device Manager page will show which profiles were selected.

Thanks, Blade.
----------------------------------------Both PCs are listed a Default. I guess that is all I can do. WCG either sends WUs to both PCs or they don't. I have one WU "Ready to start" but it has to wait for one of the other Beta WUs to finish. Rob - I used to be Gandalf_the_Grey. That is where the "years" come from. Proteins is a good point. My neighbor is still wondering where she got those teeth marks from. :~) |

I hope you don't mind me posting in here Highlander. I am just interested to know whether or not anyone based in New Zealand has received any beta work from the 7.10 application? I have unfortunately not received any work so far. I have a feeling it because because I don't run my computer 24 7.

Sometimes, it is hard to get BETA units. I run 106 threads 24/7 on windows, and another 20 or so part time and got a total of 1 unit on 1 machine and 5 on a 2nd machine over 2 different beta runs.
----------------------------------------So, it is all about your timing. If your computer requests units after them being released and they are still there, then you'll get them. Hence people running less hardware than me, get more units because they were in the right place at the right time. [Edit 1 times, last edit by vcd683s at Sep 2, 2015 6:34:37 AM] |

Interesting guess when the timing is right it will be right. I hope you got plenty of run time. Thanks
