BIG progress adjustment for OET on the Research page... OET is now at 56% !!! ARRGGG... need to crunch faster !!! And one(!) day later 67%... Just too much... ![]() |

I'm getting units with a new name: OET1_ nnnnnnn_ x4GV6p_
----------------------------------------Is that perhaps related to the jump in progress ? ![]() |

I see more frequent checkpointing [clicking the button Properties]: about every 4 minutes.
Also, the new WUs run much longer: FW jobs did ± 10 minutes, S jobs did ± 40 mins, these new babies are looking to promise ± 75 or 100 minutes (on this Linux computer). |

78% now and August as ECD
----------------------------------------With such an increase of 11%/day we should finish it within a week ;-) ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Mumak at Mar 30, 2016 8:33:46 AM] |

Maybe the (wo)man in charge of this, can restore some faith in the way and consistence of presentation to the volunteers?

as their % engine can also calculate ECD, it would be great if it's always turned ON...so we can't speculate anymore, but have a info... & it's really not a problem if some projects slips few months back & forward...as weight of other projects is changed or number of machines changes on WCG or some projects arrives to a slower or faster WUs... ![]() EDIT: so guys, we've found out that OET has increased number of batches, so it will be run longer...here's post: https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewpostinthread?post=511596 also, notice that "harder" batches come at the end of the project...so ECD will probably be false-sooner...but anyway, here's a new ECD: a New system is developed on UGM monitoring of batches...so here it goes: latest batch received is 1616 on 14nd Jan... so in 13m time we all crunched about 1616 batches of 5463... with this (slow) tempo we have about 1319d to completion or about 44m or 3.7y!?! in making such a long ECD, all of us have to include Moore law into account...so that 3.7y comes down to almost 2y or 23m! so ECD is prolonged to Dec 2017! ![]() Given that we got to 1873 batch within 43d...& the total number of batches remain 5463...so we're doing almost 6 batches per day... A new ECD is given: - on current speed of computing within 600d from 26th Feb...or to be exact on mid Oct 2017. - on speedup with Moore law, we'll finish within 470d from 26th Feb...or to be exact start of Jun 2017. ![]() LoL, highest batch seen 1928 now. IIRC the original top-batch was in the 2400 range, so that'd be 80% done [but maybe the long-running batches were taken out of the equation... yes still doing attempts at blindfolded 9 darts out. :P] Given that yesterday last was 2063 batch crunched within 27d...& the total number of batches remain 5463...so we're doing almost 7 batches per day, previously it was 6 batches per day! A new ECD is given: - on current speed of computing within 486d from 30th Mar...or to be exact on end of Jun 2017. - on speedup with Moore law, we'll finish within 421d from 30th Mar...or to be exact end of May 2017. A little speed up is visible! ![]() ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by KLiK at Mar 30, 2016 9:15:04 AM] |

Going on the assumption that the August ecd on the research page is accurate, so there is a great potential that I am simply gathering feet to put in my mouth.
----------------------------------------I find it disappointing and frankly unprofessional that the techs have not given us any information on this over the past several months. We have all been speculating at length based on a given number of batches and the techs never put in a word of caution. A press release was issued about how great the project is and it contained cryptic messages from the scientists that the project was almost over. No response from techs to volunteer questions about the release. Wild changes in percent complete with no explanation and now changes on WU type and characteristics with no explanation. All of this is with a WCG marketing campaign focused on new users and their phones and downtime on computers. Android is the gateway device to WCG and we may be losing the last Andriod project with no known upcoming project. It would simply take one sentence from a tech: "we are really busy and will give more details later, but OET has had a major change from the scientists and completion will be much sooner than expected." Most crunchers are very passionate about the work that WCG is doing--we would just like to be kept in the loop a little bit more. |

My (conspiracy) theory is that the original estimated number of batches was done prior to packing those short jobs together. When the multi-packaging was done recently the progress jumped from 31% to 56% to reflect the reduced amount of WUs. Then as we started to process these new units the progress is incrementing much faster as we do several dozens of jobs in one WU...
----------------------------------------That would mean the project could be over very soon... This would confirm the last update from scientists where they say it "will probably reach 100% soon". Then the project will go intermittent until new targets (Marburg?) are ready... Just my theory... ![]() |

Thought that I could make it to 100 years. But the increment in progress on the research page is ridiculous.
----------------------------------------From 30 to 78 in a few days is a bad joke. So I let my android run oet until end of project, but my other ressources remain on other projects here. ![]() |
