Re: Ebola Project Milestones & Records

as their % engine can also calculate ECD, it would be great if it's always turned ON...so we can't speculate anymore, but have a info...

& it's really not a problem if some projects slips few months back & forward...as weight of other projects is changed or number of machines changes on WCG or some projects arrives to a slower or faster WUs...
wink

EDIT:
so guys, we've found out that OET has increased number of batches, so it will be run longer...here's post:
https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewpostinthread?post=511596
also, notice that "harder" batches come at the end of the project...so ECD will probably be false-sooner...but anyway, here's a new ECD:

a New system is developed on UGM monitoring of batches...so here it goes:

latest batch received is 1616 on 14nd Jan...

so in 13m time we all crunched about 1616 batches of 5463...
with this (slow) tempo we have about 1319d to completion or about 44m or 3.7y!?!

in making such a long ECD, all of us have to include Moore law into account...so that 3.7y comes down to almost 2y or 23m!

so ECD is prolonged to Dec 2017!
cool

Given that we got to 1873 batch within 43d...& the total number of batches remain 5463...so we're doing almost 6 batches per day...

A new ECD is given:
- on current speed of computing within 600d from 26th Feb...or to be exact on mid Oct 2017.
- on speedup with Moore law, we'll finish within 470d from 26th Feb...or to be exact start of Jun 2017.
cool

How much usefulness is a task that (A) is 11-13 minutes long, and (B), is 213 bytes in size? A lot apparently. *AKA, Ruby!*

Re: Ebola Project Milestones & Records

The rationale is befuddling, as always. Highest batch seen is 1926 of what was said to be 5463 for the last **. After a period of steady progress in batch numbers, not the hopping back and forth, that hopping this morning resumed... from last 1925 new, to a bunch of new 1899 [80].

(FAHB finally progressed from 3 to 4%... the rest haven't moved in past 24 hours, if my sketchy memory does not fool me).

** Maybe the scientists rationalized the batch composition, or is this the one that is being GPU'd [one project is as mentioned in a social media post], which then on the clock jumps OET1 way ahead in time progress.

Maybe one of the Techs would like to weigh in and help explain the jump in percentage complete. I know that this is can happen (it's been explained and forewarned), but I'm sure the crunching community would like to about the why of these kind of changes (at least I would... I'm naturally curious biggrin ).

If my memory serves me correctly the percentage on the research page increases faster if more work is returned. As of the midnight update 403,363 results were returned the day before that there was about 264,000 returned so it is almost double the amount of work going through the system. I agree it would be nice to hear from people in the know about the large increase In the percentage completed

Re: Ebola Project Milestones & Records

It would be easier if they just post the ECD for the projects, not only 6m in advance!!! Just put it in "brackets", so that it's understood that it's only provisional date...

Techs?!

Re: Ebola Project Milestones & Records

LoL, highest batch seen 1928 now. IIRC the original top-batch was in the 2400 range, so that'd be 80% done [but maybe the long-running batches were taken out of the equation... yes still doing attempts at blindfolded 9 darts out. :P]
