Re: ! no tasks available !

I have been looking around this thread for the past 2 days in the hope that I would see a reason why I am not getting OET work. OET is the only project I have selected in "My Projects". The last thing I have tried less than an hour ago is to uncheck "If there is no work available ..." since I have been getting a lot of work for all of the other projects. Since yesterday, I have only gotten 18 hours of work completed for OET and I am continuing to get work for all of the other projects.

Re: ! no tasks available !

As layed out elsewhere, 20,000 wu's at most per day is really 29 minutes of distribution. If blocked in say 4-5 sections per day, which it seems this is happening, there'd be 6-7.25 minutes of availability for each distribution blast. Actually reading the logs, it seems the fetches on a block are spread over some 15 minutes. Then it goes dry but for a few repairs and verification units. If you're not there for as long as it takes to brew a coffee when there's some, you'd missed it till it's teatime again.

Now go back to when there was ACAH. The whole project had 33K WU's spread over a number of months. They were dependents on returns of previously computed models, so it was slow as molasses and an endurance game to even get 7 days for silver.

Re: ! no tasks available !

Dave, if OET is now your only profile selection under Available Projects, including unchecking "If there is no work available ...", then you should catch OET workunits a few times per day when the feeder is loaded with the limited numbers being made available. The profile needs to be in that state all 24 hours per day to be sure of catching them.

You are correct in theory, but the theory is incorrect. I ran 22 cores for 38 hours with only OET and got nothing. Before that, I pressed Update over 250 times on four machines over 2 days and got 118 WU. 'We aint got time fo dat'.

Hahaha indeed, exactly my thinking also.

Thus, I have 2 projects selected right now, and soon I'll have OET exclusively with "if there is no work..." activated and then ...

I'll patiently wait until the WU's start flowing instead of trickling.

Re: ! no tasks available !

I understand, that there are some difficulties when starting a new project. But I can't understand, why WCG is then promoting the OET project on twitter like there is nothing else, when there are no WUs available yet!?

You have to understand how large corporations work. The publicity was planned by the PR department weeks (if not months) ago. They would miss their annual quota for PR releases if they delay it until the project is ready, which could be next year.
