rbotterb wrote: I did a quick count. I managed to get about 28 WUs overall today. My laptop is finishing some so far about 4 hours, so by the time I'm done with this small number of OET WUs, I should have maybe 4.5 - 5.0 days of credit. So I guess I'll have to do this sort of stuff again the next two weekends to see if I can get to a Bronze badge before the end of 2014. You can do this kind of babysitting even if you do not have an access to the computer: 1. Set your cache to, e.g. 3 days 2. Fill it with non-OET1 WU's 3. Keep only OET1 in your Device profile You have 2 - 2.5 days for fishing (while your queue get dried - you can check it in My Contribution / Results Status, filter by Device and "In Progress" tasks), then log-in via your web browser to WCG and repeat points 2. (add non-OET1 sciences in Device profile, wait approximately half a day) and 3. Cheers ![]() I did the same thing for my machines and got one work unit, but is there a specific reason as to why such steps need to be taken? Also if someone selects all projects and puts that as their default would the situation eventually be that they too would get OET work units? ![]() |

(A) A few reasons. Stated steps:
----------------------------------------1. ensure you have free space in device's cache, 2. by selecting only OET1, which has lower-than-low feeder priority, you are increasing the chance to get some. Anyway, you have to wait for several hours to catch some in time, when they are issued by WCG - see rbotterb example - (s)he has gotten his/her very first WU's 5 hours after (s)he has taken these steps. (B) Yes, it is possible. But with significantly smaller probability. Cheers and ![]() ![]() Crunching@Home since January 13 2000. During the work week, I only run my laptop in the evenings after work to the next morning, so I don't have the time to mess with the extra manual stuff. But later in the week I general run from Friday evening to Monday morning over the weekend, so I'll probably can fill up my cache a day or so on Friday night, then set my manual trap for those OET WUs over night. Check in the morning and see if I get any. If not, add some more other work to get back to 24 backlog and try again for OET WUs. If figure doing this I'll catch at least one or two runs of OET WUs - maybe 20-30 at a shot if I'm lucky and get something to crunch on the rest of the weekend.
I'm still working on my MGM1 Shappire badge and have 127 Days left to go on it, so I'll still will push hard on it before I hit OET much harder. I also haven't exactly been getting much UMG1 WUs either, so fishing for some of these WUs have taken a bit of extra time. Kind of like fishing out on a lake with a babber, looking for the fishes to nibble on my bait..... For the record, I'm a he.... |

I finally got my first OET1 WU to validate, so at least OET1 is listed on my contributions list. One Valid WUs, a few zillion (?) more to go....

If there's a few zillion around, at less than 20k WUs/day, it'll take a while... come on feeders, chin up!

At this point there should be a Sticky indicating that this is a low priority project but that nothing is wrong.
Why make people wade through all these trivial posts to understand what is going on? I have had opted in for more than a week with 0 task sent. I don't really care that I'm not getting anything. I just wanted to make sure there was no problem on my end. |

After reading the posts I understand that there was nothing wrong on my side as far as configuring my system. However, I did get a couple of OET followings the reccomended steps. ![]() |

Get new crunchers, to work on Ebola, no tasks, they went away. Wish I had never seen this lop sided fiasco of a science. Some users are even up to 2 years, we have 1 day.
