Find and click on 'Bookmark Manager' or something like that in Firefox. There you can export the bookmarks to a file which can be imported again after the installation of 14.04.

Thanks I found it. I had to select 'Show All Bookmarks'.
I also have version 14 now. If I do a new installation will it include Boinc automatically or will I need to look for it and install it myself? |

In case of a clean installation you have to install BOINC again, e.g. with the 'Software Center' of Ubuntu. Only if you choose upgrading 12.04 to 14.04 you haven't to reinstall BOINC.

I did a clean installation, then I downloaded Synaptic and then Boinc.
----------------------------------------Now this Boinc Manager is totally different. Does it have all the features that the previous one had? It says version 7.2.42 and I thought that's what I had before but maybe not. It does appear to have the features, but I can't see all the task info in a chart format for all tasks at once. I have to select a task first and then open a window. Also, my "Software & Updates" manager, under 'other software', it comes with "Independent" providers selected, and not "Canonical Partners". Is it okay to add Canonical and should I leave "Independent" selected? Also under "Updates" it comes with "Unsupported updates" (trusty-backports) selected. Is this safe and okay to leave selected? Installing BOINC with Synaptic doesn't have any benefits. Using the Software Center would have been easier.
----------------------------------------BOINC Managers first start shows the so called simple view. You can switch to the enhanced view with the menu line at the top of the screen. About the Update Manager: I am trusting the preconfiguration of Ubuntu. ![]() Ask not what the world can do for you - ask what you can do for the world. |

i was going to use the Software Center, but noticed the descrption mentioned something about both a manager and client are needed, or maybe the client.
The description made it sound like only one of the two would be installed. I do prefer using the Software Center. Should I remove Synaptic and Boinc and try the Software Center? |

Should I remove Synaptic and Boinc and try the Software Center? No, this makes no difference now. As I mentioned above, using Software-Center would only be easier. It indeed installs the whole package you need to run BOINC. So it seems all is well at last. ![]() ![]() Ask not what the world can do for you - ask what you can do for the world. |

All is well with version 14, but then I opened the application called 'Disks' and it says my
hardrive is Ok, 20 bad sectors. Is Linux telling me that the 20 bad sectors I don't need to worry about, or is it trying to tell me that I need to find and block the bad sectors myself? |

Sorry for not having any experiences with that.
----------------------------------------But I think the message 'hard drive is OK' should answer your question. ![]() Ask not what the world can do for you - ask what you can do for the world. |

I have been getting updates, but the other day there were some updates available but I had to shut down the computer to go to work. So I didn't get to install those.
Now the past couple days it hasn't prompted me that there are updates. On the previous Linux Ubuntu I was able to click a button to manually check for updates, but I don't know how to do it with the new version 14. How can I get the updates that were available before? |
