It'll be interesting to see the stats once it's settled in. At present there'll probably be a build up of units entering PV so the figs will be a little low, but after a few days there'll be about the same no leaving PV as entering and the stats should be more representative. I wait with baited breath to just what this will produce...I'm looking forward to some whole day stats and ppw/h figures.

I think you mean "with bated breath". Otherwise it sounds like you are a fish or a very inebriated fisherman.

Impressive-looking build, Mama, let us know the stats after it's had time to settle in and work through PV-jail a bit!

more stats more stats
---------------------------------------- I'm thinkng of a 2 or 4 socket build (well been thinking of it for years) Got a job again so I get to keep my little retirement pension for fun things (read computers and vacations) I'm going to go over the stats for the build again, having trouble deciding intel v amd. I like intel's low wattage, but I'm rooting for AMD (Kinda like how I am rooting for Seattle in the superbowl, the underdog) If you make the case (or the stats do) for the opteron I'm in! ![]() |

AMD announced new 12 and 16 core chips. Good price too. If I build another crncher, will use these.

First, these are server chips and large data centers are becoming much more conscious of electrical usage, so the lower clock speeds are a factor in this. The other factor may be the ability to dissipate heat. with a lower clock speed and lower electrical usage, heat dissipation may may be easier. With less heat to deal with, your air conditioning(cooling) costs aalso go down. Cheers
