And this is just a suggestion, but if you're going to compete with the Death Star build, you'll probably need an appropriate name like maybe Revenge of Alderaan, Rebel Alliance, etc. (just a thought) ![]() I name all my computer systems after moons within our solar system. No need to compete.... we can be allies. What does the Saturnian moon Mimas look like?? ![]() -Paul ![]() |

Mimas - Destroyer of Work Units.
----------------------------------------Yeah, that has a nice ring. There's no need for anything to be a competition. I'm not sure how having multiple build logs in one thread will work, but what the hey, it could be fun. I might be able to take some pix of my SR2 rig. It's down now but it's mounted on a test bench so taking photos isn't a big deal. I'll wait to see what you guys put up and try to get some ideas. ![]() ![]() |

My current machine naming convention is ...lord where... is a prefix like sky, sea or as in the death star Lanlord!
----------------------------------------Competition is good, the real winner would be the grid and the projects we are crunching for. I'm all up for some fun. However, as long as we are all crunching for the WCG we are all winners and so are the projects we support... So let's play, how are we going to track progress?

I think your benchmark should be Movieman's build before he had to return his two high end Xeon cpus.

I think your benchmark should be Movieman's build before he had to return his two high end Xeon cpus. Cheers MM's dual 12 core/24 thread monster set a high mark to compete. He is back to dual 10 core's now. Even those are still racking up enormous points. I need to win the lottery to get a pair of those 12 cores. Or a few pairs! ![]() Nice build. How tight was it getting the mobo in the case? Am currently crunching with a pair of X5670's on a super micro mobo. Have the Corsair 800D case. These westmere xeons are rock solid. Enjoy your new cruncher.

These processors are only 2.67's so the benchmark are not going to be that good... Movieman had a thread where he was testing a pair of 12 core E5-2697 V2's. I thought if you were gunning for some good performance, you could see how you compare to his figures. I know your chips are not in the same class. Cheers

Enjoy your new cruncher. The case was plenty big enough for the board, but this is the full tower and it really lives up to the name, it's huge. Plenty of space all round, well on three sides anyway!

Sgt Joe - you got me thinking, this MB and these CPU's will O/C, so I'm going to play and see where it takes me...
----------------------------------------I've found some threads in the EVGA forum that indicate the CPU's will go to, and be stable at 4.1, If I can get mine above 3.5 it would be brilliant! And make a significant difference to the productivity... Watch this space. BTW, any advice and guidance would be appreciated.
