Re: New Beta Test starting Nov 4, 2013 [ Issues Thread ] Version 7.21

Just had a WU that seemed to run (and report) OK on my machine, but the wingman claimed a ridiculously small amount of CPU time. From the wingman's log:

Result Name: BETA_ BETA_ 9999987_ 0746a_ 1--

I make that less than 3 seconds CPU time in a little over ten minutes elapsed (certainly less than 20 minutes). My old machine is a (very) slow P4, but reported 3142 CPU seconds in between 35 and 56 minutes.

That difference is such as to make me believe that the CPU time numbers are not being correctly recorded.

Re: New Beta Test starting Nov 4, 2013 [ Issues Thread ] Version 7.21

Just got home to find I snagged four of the new betas. All four on quad running Vista Business SP2, 4GB of memory and BOINC 6.10.58. FWIW, A/V is NIS. One has already completed. Info on it:

BETA_ BETA_ 9999983_ 0436_ 0-- Amberscomputer Pending Validation 11/4/13 18:35:23 11/4/13 23:38:03 0.75 / 4.96 98.0 / 0.0

Any way to tell if a beta is one being regression tested from the last beta? 45 minutes of CPU out of FIVE hours elapsed to me says there's still a problem if this is not a regression test.

Info on next WU:

BETA_ BETA_ 9999988_ 0592a_ 1-- Amberscomputer In Progress 11/4/13 20:37:11 11/6/13 20:37:11 0.00 / 0.00 0.0 / 0.0

Elapsed time: 03:22:39
Estimated time remaining: 02:23:18
Virtual memory size: 94.45 MB
Working set size: 56.20 MB

WU percent complete updating regularly.
Wingman is still in process.
Still a big gap between CPU and elapsed but not the worst.

Info on next WU:

Note: looks like this one still has the truncated log info. CPU/elapsed gap on this one is bigger. All four of these were/are running concurrently on the quad. Info from the first beta hints at running one at a time addresses the CPU/elapsed time gap so this is still an issue for this beta.

Edit: 0581_0 just completed - ERROR. Info from log is:

Actually, I see there are several more doing the same thing. Two of the units are actually working correctly which indicates a problem with the work rather than the system:

Re: New Beta Test starting Nov 4, 2013 [ Issues Thread ] Version 7.21

Question: are the beta WUs with the "a" at the end of the WU name, as in ...0582a_1, the new wu's for this beta or are they the one's that are the regression tests from the first beta?

OK, as 5 of the 7 were not incrementing CPU time, I stopped the client and restarted. 6 of 7 kept the CPU time and reverted to 0.5% completion.

Re: New Beta Test starting Nov 4, 2013 [ Issues Thread ] Version 7.21

I've got one Beta WU that has been restarting roughly every 4 minutes for a couple hours now. I tried to suspend/resume it, but it didn't take. My other three cores are OK running FAAH WUs, but the one Beta WU just seems to spin its wheels at .50% CPU done.

Any suggestions? Do I just let it spin for a few hours more and see that happens? Or try some setting changes to get it moving along? This being my first run with Beta WUs, I just want to make sure I get the most help out of what is running/cycling here to help out the cause....

By the way I'm running Windows 7 on my laptop if that info helps....

Re: New Beta Test starting Nov 4, 2013 [ Issues Thread ] Version 7.21

I have one beta that appears to be stuck, suspending/resume did nothing. CPU time shows 2hrs 26 min runtime - progress is 10% - time remaining shows 6 min 33 sec.

WinXP X64 AMD 1090 Boinc 7.0.28

While I was writing this, the WU restarted, now shows elapsed time 00:15:57 - remaining 01:19:56 - progress 16.1%

will continue to monitor.......

The stuck WU was showing cpu usage at 8%, since the restart cpu usage now shows 98.1% and appears to be progressing normally, now at 22.3% after 26 minutes.

Another one stuck on Win7 X64 FX-8150 Boinc 7.0.64
showed only 2% complete, suspended/resumed three times before it finally took off
progressing so far.....

Re: New Beta Test starting Nov 4, 2013 [ Issues Thread ] Version 7.21

One ran on Q9550 in 19m 47sec. Uploaded 255.92 KB, on Vista
One completed on Q9300 after 22min 23sec, on Vista
Another at 50% after 57min, on i5-3550 (Ivy Bridge).
Two others completed before I was aware of them.
No problems noted.
One lurks, awaiting its turn at bat on i5-4670.
All in 32-bit boinc 6.2.19, all 64-bit CPUs.
