Re: New Beta Test starting Nov 4, 2013 [ Issues Thread ] Version 7.21

I had 3 Beta WUs. Unfortunately they kept restarting after 2-3 minutes. One gave an error on its own and I eventually aborted the other two. Should I not have aborted them? What if anything do you need from me to help diagnose the problem(s). This are more first beta WUs I've had in years and years.

Re: New Beta Test starting Nov 4, 2013 [ Issues Thread ] Version 7.21

I don't know why someone gets 20 or more beta tasks and I get in this 2 cycles only 3 tasks, 2 were valid. I know that someone has more cores and computers but I am getting many faah units and CEP2 but only 3 for now beta units. And second question is, when is computer for Boinc trusted or should I say reliable if you know what I mean?

Re: New Beta Test starting Nov 4, 2013 [ Issues Thread ] Version 7.21

Will answer your first question: the 1st batch lasted something like 1.5 - 2 hours, the second one around 3.5 h. So if your PC's are not requesting new work during these "happy hours", you will not receive any. Classic saying: "Being on the right place in the right time".

Cheers and good luck

Re: New Beta Test starting Nov 4, 2013 [ Issues Thread ] Version 7.21

Well I went 0 for 4 on Beta WUs. I let them all go and crunch over the past day or so, but I couldn't get any of them to get past the restarting issues. I'll read the other posts here and see if there are some settings changes that others have that allowed their computers to crunch these Beta WUs to completion just in case I get any more Beta work today (11/05) or on 11/06 before the deadline.

This was the first time I did any Beta work, and it has been a great educational experience - just wished I was more successful on this round. biggrin

Re: New Beta Test starting Nov 4, 2013 [ Issues Thread ] Version 7.21

2 WU on my PC (win7x64) after downloadind they got restarted few times.

Than they somehow recovered, but after approximatelly 30 minutes of normal runtime (with checkpoints) they were stuck again - 3 hours of elapsed time, but only 30 minutes of CPU time, no other apps running on that system.

So I restarted the whole system and one errored out after few minutes:
with unhandled exception: - Unhandled Exception Record -
Reason: Out Of Memory (C++ Exception) (0xe06d7363) at address 0x000007FEFD49940D which is pretty strange as far as I have 2 GBs of RAM and swapping enabled and there was a plenty of RAM free (no other apps running)

Re: New Beta Test starting Nov 4, 2013 [ Issues Thread ] Version 7.21

My CPU is pegged at 100%. Memory use is ok. Computer is responding slowly in my usual programs. It could be my configuration. Any ideas.

Re: New Beta Test starting Nov 4, 2013 [ Issues Thread ] Version 7.21

Well, with the announcement of the 7.22 test this may be even more speculative than it might otherwise have been, but I'll mention it anyway.

BETA_BETA_9999985_0456a is currently running on my machine, and I checked to see what the wingmen had done: 1PV, 3 Error. Each error was different. Also, the four machines were running 3 different levels of BOINC.

I just thought this might be a useful one for the techs to look at. And my tech-head says this looks remarkably like something trampling over memory at random, so it might be a good WU to run the debug tools on.

Take it or leave it.

Check your Task Manager
Click on Processes
Make the arrow down on the CPU tab

Which ever process is at the top will be using the most CPU time.
