Re: New Beta Test starting Oct 31, 2013 [Issues Thread]

I wasn't lucky to get 1 of the initial 10,000, but meanwhile fished 2 resends.

First task: Wingman error with "Maximum disk usage exceeded". To see how big the upload file may grow, I extended the bound 10 times.
Checkpoints after about every 10 minutes.
Keith Uplinger mentioned memory usage of 400MB, but my first still running resend already has a peak of 1,692MB.

Second resend: Wingman returned with "exit code -1073740940 (0xc0000374)" that normally means memory access violated.
After 10 minutes the 0.5% issue, the task run to the 1st checkpoint after 19 minutes runtime, but 7 minutes later no CPU-usage anymore.
Suspend with LAIM off and resume, the task restarts with 0.5% progress and it seems it's running a bit further now.

Crystal Pellet,

I double checked the settings, and it shows a ram limit of 400MB, Can you provide me with the work unit name that gave you the issue?

Thanks,
-Uplinger

Hi Keith,

I oversaw your request, but meanwhile continued my report about that task here -> http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewpostinthread?post=436360

Cheers,
CP

I will be taking a look at that work unit tomorrow. Thanks for the information!

Thanks to everyone for all this information, it is helping us iron out some of the issues :)

Thanks,
-Uplinger

Re: New Beta Test starting Oct 31, 2013 [Issues Thread]

10/31/2013 2:58:33 PM | World Community Grid | Output file BETA_BETA_9999987_0425_3_0 for task BETA_BETA_9999987_0425_3 exceeds size limit.
10/31/2013 2:58:33 PM | World Community Grid | File size: 11652466.000000 bytes. Limit: 10485760.000000 bytes

How do I fix this? Thanks

Unfortunately there is nothing you can do to fix this. This is a setting from the server. We have limited the result files to 10MB, but as some have reported the result file has grown to 100MB in some cases. The researchers have a list of results that have this issue and will be looking into getting this file size down.

Thanks,
-Uplinger

Re: New Beta Test starting Oct 31, 2013 [Issues Thread]

nano, I got exactly 1 WU per CPU thread from original batch and some resends later.

Guess I was late to the dance.

Nano, usually I see you on the beta list. This one had many people chomping at the bits. I had it set to the lowest weight, basically 5 results on the feeder. But even with the lowest weight I could send to extend it as much as possible, 10,000 results went out within 1.5 hours. Pretty much as fast as the feeder would fill they would be gone.

Since we had issues as members have noticed. Transfer issue, progress not updating, checkpointing, etc...there will be more just not today.

Holloween has started, time to hand out candy :)

Thanks,
-Uplinger

This beta started in the wee hours of the morning for me. Maybe I'll have better luck next time. Thanks for the reply.

Re: New Beta Test starting Oct 31, 2013 [Issues Thread]

My computer doubles as my TV so I need WCG to suspend while I watch. Unfortunately this Beta doesn't play well with others. Even when suspended, it uses full CPU power. I also got the endless cycling.

Edited to add: I aborted the three jobs and they're still going full speed. So I quit the WCG / Boinc application, and (you guessed it), they're still "going strong". So did an "End Process" (I'm on Windows) and now they're gone.

Re: New Beta Test starting Oct 31, 2013 [Issues Thread]

I also have had one error out.

Boinc log:
Output file BETA_BETA_9999985_0647_1_0 for task BETA_BETA_9999985_0647_1 exceeds size limit.
File size: 107838346.000000 bytes.
Limit: 10485760.000000 bytes

WCG log:
<message>
upload failure: <file_xfer_error>
<file_name>BETA_BETA_9999985_0647_0_0</file_name>
<error_code>-131</error_code>
</file_xfer_error>

So far one other machine has completed, with same result, so more copies have been sent out.

Re: New Beta Test starting Oct 31, 2013 [Issues Thread]

Received 19 WU's - 3 are valid - 5 errors - 1 server aborted - 2 pending - 8 in progress.

Have had a few get stuck with just over 2hrs runtime and only1.04% finished, suspended and resumed a couple times, then they took off.

All the errors seem to be the same error 131 running on Win XP X64, Win7 X64, and Linux Mint X64 .........

Re: New Beta Test starting Oct 31, 2013 [Issues Thread]

Only got one of the initial bunch, on my old, slow P4: BETA_BETA_9999987_0168_0. It checkpointed at 12mins or so, ran to 52.216% then progress ceased. It is now showing over 12hrs CPU (static) and around 17hrs elapsed (advancing), but WinTaskMgr shows it at nearly 16hrs CPU (advancing) -- so it looks like it somehow isn't talking properly to the BOINC TaskMgr.

It's very late here and I'm off to bed. I'll let it run in case it does anything useful and will check back here in the morning to see if anyone thinks I should kill it and if any useful data can be retrieved before I do.
