Re: Arriving Monday! Two 12 core E5-2697 V2 Ivy Bridge Xeons

Agreed. Movieman, you need to run Linux so we can see what this rig can really do. Did you say you had a Hard Drive with Linux/WCG preloaded?

BTW, thanks for the link above. I did not realize my 4P rigs were #2 and #4 in daily top production.

Yea, those AMD's of yours are BEASTS! biggrin

Re: Arriving Monday! Two 12 core E5-2697 V2 Ivy Bridge Xeons

Something really strange is going on. Been watching my point awards drop like crazy the past couple days so i check into it and I was being awarded at the rate of app 24 PPH per core and now it's at 10???
I mean today under 100K for an indicated 43/48th of a day..
Something is wrong here..
Anyone at WCG around that can check into this?

Re: Arriving Monday! Two 12 core E5-2697 V2 Ivy Bridge Xeons

I've been having a similar issue, though I thought it was something to do with Linux. It showed it was only producing 15-16 days/day which is a huge loss of efficiency on a 24 core cruncher. Don't know what's up.

If you ever solve it, I would also like to know the solution.

Ryan,Joe: Something is definately messed up..
It's not I "think" something is wrong, I "know" it is.
Also seeing weird things like say getting a totral of 250,000points for a day according to WCG page but the individual machines adding up to just 200,000..
Like I said, soenthing is wrong and it's more than one thing..
I think we need a little help here from the WCG bosses.. biggrin

Yeah, when I look at the credit which is given on an individual machine, it varies quite a lot. Just taking the vina units alone on my xeon e5410 's the credits vary from 25 to over 40 points per hour. Boinc is the only thing running on it. It runs 24/7. Nothing I am aware of is different from day to day, yet the credits are vastly different. Maybe it is just the way the batches are constructed or the molecules are configured or a different structure. I just want my machines to run efficiently.
(Note: I really don't care about the credits themselves, but use them as one measure of how the machine is performing.)
Cheers

Joe: We pretty much agree. I like the points to help the XS team but for me they mean very little. Just as a way to compare one machine to another..Now if they had a dollar vaule I could use them to pay off some Dr bills..LOLOL..

Any CA's care to comment why I'm watching a 200,000+ PPD machine go to under 100K in 2 days???

Re: Arriving Monday! Two 12 core E5-2697 V2 Ivy Bridge Xeons

Problem seems to be solved. My guess it was a bad batch of FAAH WU or maybe they just saw the machine and decided they were going to be obstinate! biggrin
back on track and according to the latest WU's being credited at app 225,000 WCG PPD..
That I'm ver happy with.
Moving to Linux soon as I want that top spot..
Yes, still a little ego left even at age 61.. devilish

Re: Arriving Monday! Two 12 core E5-2697 V2 Ivy Bridge Xeons

ok, now I've solved all the problems.
I moved to Linux Mint and Friday at 6PM EST fired it up for the first time.
Now understand that this is my first even LOOK at LINUX and had a bit to learn( still do) but WCG was up and running in 5 minutes and here's the stats for it's first day:
Day one
Statistics
Date ...... Total Run Time ...Points Generated... Results Returned
11/02/2013 ...0:043:01:41:04........ 280,791 ...........965
Also factor in that there was 9 pages of pending validation so it will take a few days to see exacdtly what the beastie can really do.
Yea, I'm excited! biggrin
