Guys, the issue with the cable is likely to be that the 'new' PSU only comes with sata connections, as has been pointed out you need a converter from molex - PCI-e.
----------------------------------------If the PSU does indeed only have sata connections for extras, then a sata-PCI-e converter will be required. This may not be the case, but it sounds likely. On the size of the PSU - I personally go for one that has, as mentioned, some headroom over and above what is likely to be required for the items installed (GPU's, HDD, BD, MB, RAM fans etc) this allows asome space for upgrades and does not stress the PSU. My main system has the AX1200i from Corsair, which I have connected to their LinkCommander (so I can monitor power usage) I've never managed to get it over 650 watts. however, this is a 'Platignum standard PSU' and runs at 95% efficiency most of the time. and that's with 2 x HD7970's running flatout! There are many 'PSU finder' type web pages available, most over estimate to be safe, the issue is that all components are rated at theroetical power usage, each installation is different. I have many machines with pretty much the same components, they all perform different and undoubtedly use different amounts of power!

Exactly - SATA to PCI-E adapters, such as these. That's why I don't believe what their saying about having to wait 3 weeks to get cables from overseas.

Ah ha, finally got them to admit the PSU was not going to be up to it.....they are fitting a CORSAIR - Gaming Series GS600 Bronze ATX PSU - 600 W which will also mean that the cable they have been waiting for will not now be needed!

SUper result indeed, but how much is it going to cost you over and above the original system?

Congrats Scribe! Did you have to drive the tank all the way through their front window or was the barrel of the main gun sufficient?
