Re: Morning Update II

@ KrisUK

Sorry to hear about the error but 1073741819 is not "unknown" wink A search of the forum here lists 223 posts where this error is cited.

I suggest you look through and see if any are relevant to you. A good place to start would be posts by SekeRob who is pretty clued up about these things (though you might have a problem with his occasional mangling of the English language)

Thanks jonnie wil do, as for the English language l do a good job mangling it myelf. biggrin

UPdate on WCG Crunching build 24/7-

Right as you know l'v been considering building a WCG Crunching 24/7, Ebay is the easiest place to shop so depending on condition a Dell Precision T5500 Single X5650 6 core ready to use was about £260+£15 P&P or Dell Precision T5500 barbone's £149+15 P&P adding the CPU, Ram, GPU, HDD worked out slightly cheaper. A HP Z600 Workstation Single X5650 6 core ready to use was about £350+£15 P&P not many HP Z600 barebone's about but exspensive.

Either system above ready to use with a Dual Xeon was about £60 to £100 more depending on condition, easier than buying just a dual socket mobo due to their size plus the price of a case as we have pets so can't have a open mobo like Mamajuanuk.

Today came a cross this mobo below secoundhand a Supermicro LGA 1366 Intel i7 Motherboard £39 on fleabay as are the rest of the components see below complete build came to Total=£244 will use free postage option-

Supermicro LGA 1366 Intel i7 Motherboard - MBD-X8STi-B - Used in very good working condition, fully tested and with 6 months Return to Base Warranty-£39
Xeon5650 6 core-£60
EEC Ram 3x4GB-£60
CPU Cooler-£15-New
PSU-£45-New
Case - Black-£25-New
Total=£244

What do you think team?

Edit > # 626 + gordondwild a big welcome just joined myself and the team is very freindly. smile

Re: Morning Update II

@Kris - Be careful of the HP Z series, the older 2nd gen 'B' don't support the 56xx chips, only the later third or 'C' gen do. I have 2 x Z800 one with 2 x X5650's the other with W5590's and they run really hot running 24/7!

There may be an option for you to have 2 x 16 core machines for about the same price as you mentioned above. email me at my Yahoo.co.uk account for more info, if you're interested...

This is a very difficult error to trace correctly. It could be anything of the ones I'll give below, or none of them. Please be patient in tracing this error. Do report it on the project's forums and let the people there guide you along as well.
Steps**1. Your system is over-clocked to the max. Clock back to a more normal level for troubleshooting. STABLE
2. You use corrupt system drivers. Update your motherboard chipset drivers. UPDATED
3. You use outdated/corrupt graphics drivers. Update the drivers for your graphics card or do not use the screen saver/graphics in BOINC. UPDATED
4. Your DirectX version is outdated. Update DirectX. See Self Help: Links to Drivers for the link. UPDATED
5. The image link(s) in BOINC are broken. Uninstall BOINC and reinstall it/upgrade it to the latest available version. DONE
6. The image link(s) in the project's application are broken. Reset the project from within BOINC. DONE
7. Since the error is based on the Windows 0xc0000005 error (Access Violation), it could also be: All below DONE
- faulty RAM. --> test with memtest86+
- an incorrect/corrupt device driver. --> check for updates
