I neglected to mention this morning that yesterday 87 members returned results beating the previous record of 86 set Mon 17 Nov 2014.
---------------------------------------- At the same time 89 members had validated results equalling the record set 1 Dec 2014. ![]() I've also corrected the formatting error on UK team Comparison of Daily RunTime, Points, Results which may caused a problem on some screns! (Caused by the daily average RT for January rising above 999.9!) ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by jonnieb-uk at Jan 7, 2015 1:54:58 PM] |

Killing a few hours I've been looking at the UK Team's place in the WCG world:
----------------------------------------The UK Team accounts for just RunTime 0.1651 % Points 0.1897 % Results 0.1928 % of Global output todate The UK Team accounts for just RunTime 0.7445 % Points 0.7500 % Results 0.0000 % of European output todate The UK Team accounts for just RunTime 5.9978 % Points 5.9003 % Results 0.0000 % of Great Britain output todate All in all a fairly meaningless exercise with the figures in the last two statements probably overstated since they rely on User geographical location and at least 25% (and rising) of output is contributed by Users who have withheld their location. The exercise is not a complete waste however if the scope is narrowed to yesterday's production: The UK Team accounted for RunTime 0.5951 % Points 0.4767 % Results 0.4462 % of yesterday's Global production The UK Team accounted for RunTime 2.5103 % Points 2.0950 % Results 2.0262 % of yesterday's European production The UK Team accounted for RunTime 18.1142 % Points 15.9172 % Results 14.7089 % of yesterday's Great Britain production |

Needing something to smile about after a relatively futile time compiling the last post I compared yesterday's production of the UK Team with that of Improbable Island's Distributed Supercomputer who we need to pass to claim undisputed "Greatest GB Team".
----------------------------------------Currently the relative stats are: RT days Points Results Yesterday RT days Points Results Admittedly based on a single days stats which might not accurately reflect I.I.D.S. current output levels, this suggests that we will have passed I.I.D.S. in all three divisions by the end of June! ![]() |

Might build this as a 24/7 WCG Cruncher-
----------------------------------------Was thinking of stripping all the dell crap out the case for better cooling add my own HD, fans> on heatsink, memory, will add a more effcient PSU later. Dell Precision T5500 Barebones Desktop-£150 Compoments to install- X5650-£60 Heatsink-£10 AMD HD5450-£10 RAM-8GB (2x4GB) Ram Memory-£35 will add extra if needed. Total-£265 Must have a case as we have pets. The Boss[wife] gives it the thumbs up for this as she also thinks using your PC for WCG is a great idea. ![]() [Edit 2 times, last edit by Former Member at Jan 7, 2015 9:14:09 PM] |

My latest build, I'll post more details if anyone is interested... Plzzzzzz do. ![]() MB = SUPERMICRO MBD-X9DRI-F-O CPU = 2 x Xeon E5-2630 @ 2.3Ghz (95 watt TPD) - 2 x6 core H/T enabled total 24 threads RAM = 4 x 8Gb DDR3 SSD = 60GB PSU = Corsair RM 850 (well over the top but I had it available!) Graphics = onboard (4 x PCIE slots available) Cooling - Supermicro active air cooling with 2 x 140mm fans to assist in air flow Not made up my mind about a case for it yet, but it runs ok as it is so may not bother...

Might build this as a 24/7 WCG Cruncher- I have some of these X5650's they are good solid processors, they also take overclocking on the right MB. they run at 2.667GHz out of the box and are a very good choice. Was thinking of stripping all the dell crap out the case for better cooling add my own HD, fans> on heatsink, memory, will add a more effcient PSU later. Dell Precision T5500 Barebones Desktop-£150 Compoments to install- X5650-£60 Heatsink-£10 AMD HD5450-£10 RAM-8GB (2x4GB) Ram Memory-£35 will add extra if needed. I don't buy any single processor systems any more. The ones I have left are 3 & 4 Ghz so nice fast machines, but are more power hungry than 1 dual processor machine with 16 threads.
