Okay, this is the 1st draft of a Team Challenges report and is very much a work in progress as I try and tidy up the formatting etc.

Some random thoughts/comments about this report and Team challenges in general. Please feel free to make suggestions. comments, criticism. This is a new area for me! wink

  • Challenges are presented in start date order
  • Tthe majorityof challenges are created by keithhenry of MyOnlineTeam
  • The UK Team is looking good is most challenges even those that started sometime before M Day
  • There are 45 teams in the largest challenge MOT Aug 2014 Run Time with an average ~38 in most others
  • "Score" is #Points, #Results, RT days (not seconds as on WCG)
  • I don't think reporting this on a daily basis is likely to be appropriate. Weekly or ad hoc?
  • I haven't looked at qualification for challenges. There has been debate in the past about team size etc but I don't thibk there's anything in place at this time.
  • Decrypthon is the team ahead of us in the pan-project Aug MOT challenges
  • In the other challenges where we're not already #1 the opposition is a permutation of Christians. Ukraine, Czech National Team, Rochester Institute of Technology, France all of whom we are now out crunching on a daily basis, so it's only a matter of time.

As far as I know there is no limit in place on challenges.
I don't really see the need for a daily update either, perhaps every Sunday to finish the week and then maybe one for the final challenge result?

Looking good for the first draft...

  • I don't think reporting this on a daily basid is likely to be appropriate. Weekly or ad hoc?
    • I agree, as mentioned in my original question/request, reporting every day would not be appropriate, adhoc or when we move in the rankings and definately at the end...

    Although a half way progress report may be worthwhile...

    I suppose a question for the team, that may save you a lot of work is this:

    How much interest is there in the team challenge and the reporting of progress?

    How much interest is there in the team challenge and the reporting of progress?

    Speaking for myself, the answer would have been "none" but maybe thats because the subjects never come up!

    I suggest I should post reports as appropriate until Christmas and see what interest is generated.

    In a wider context I'm all for anything that promotes inter- team (friendly) rivalry which has to be good for WCG. Maybe keithhenry could be asked to start a thread to discuss Team Challenges in the wider Community. Both those he currently creates each month, as well as ideas for future development - team sizes ec.

    I would think I have a look at the team challenges maybe twice a month at present.
    While it would be easier to see them here if JonnieB does continue with the stats, it's no big deal to have a quick look at them as I do currently from our team homepage.
    Also of course it depends on Statto wink
