So.... It's my own fault really for having a weak password? I used the same pw when I first signed up to Seti back in 1999, then the same one when I signed up to United Devices in 2003. Never had a problem for 15 years until Ripple came along. Hmmm...... The issue being that Seti@Home and UD were not done for direct financial gain, whereas the arrival of Ripple means that people can crunch and gain money for doing so; whether it offsets the electricity cost of doing so remains to be seen, but if you're hijacking someone else's server (and therefore their electricity) to get the money, then you get money for free. It gives more incentive to the hackers to try dictionary-attacks and similar and see what they can get hold of and hope some of their victims don't notice. Anyway, I'd advise recycling passwords every so often (more regularly for things you want to keep more secure) - have a look at a password repository (something like KeePass or LastPass) to save passwords in, that way you can use even more secure passwords and not have to worry too much (I use KeePass, and it can do its own password-generation for you). ![]() |

I'm a Last Pass fan
----------------------------------------![]() 5 ***** PC Mag review and best of all it's freeware. As well as secure password generation I also find the form-fill feature very useful. ![]() |

Good afternoon team.
----------------------------------------The bad news is that my video encoding is likely to take many months, even using my i5 Server and i7 Laptop. With my chosen quality / compression settings, I am only encoding HD content at circa 15 fps and have lots of movies to convert!
