Mornin..................... biggrin
................we will decide what the best course of action to take is, regarding informing the members.
It could be that telling us exactly what happened gives more hackers a clue how to bust the system? Sometimes it is better to keep stum! wink

Re: In Other News

Prior warning on potential bad news - it's been queried as to whether the "spares lab" that we run here should be using power-resources at all, over and above a simple test when we put a physical server in place there (ready to be placed live in the event of a failure elsewhere).

As a result, there's a likely chance that I'm going to have to power down my five 4-core VMs, if I can't justify them staying powered up and working, so my work-load may drop even further in the next day or two! sad

Unfortunately, I've now had this confirmed, so I'm having to run the work-cache down on these five VMs, and then shut them down!

So, that's 20 cores I'll be powering off! sad

I have been given an avenue to see if the company wants to officially help out properly, though, rather than letting us run a few machines occasionally, so will see how that goes.

Re: In Other News

Afternoon Team....

I'M BACK biggrin biggrin biggrin biggrin biggrin biggrin biggrin biggrin biggrin biggrin biggrin

My finances are still a little precarious and I won't be out of the water for another 3 or so weeks, but I figure I'll start back now rather than later as I am going to be restricted to running only 1 of my I7's (rather than all 3 of them), but contributing 8 days per day is better than nothing at all wink

I am trying to ensure that what I have been through NEVER happens again and it will take time, but step by step I'll get there biggrin

Re: In Other News

Welcome back, TMC! biggrin

It seems your return may make up for some of my potential fall in crunching-productivity, depending on how a meeting in work goes tomorrow.

Re: In Other News

Welcome back TMC! biggrin As is often stated any contribution is better than none and, who knows, a sudden spell of cold weather and you might be grateful for the warmth of another crunching machine. wink

Thargor Good luck with the meeting tomorrow. I'm sure the team would welcome XYZ Co as a participating member if their contribution has to be seperate from your own. wink A friendly nudge to azzaka might be useful as well,

A further increase in contribution might be possible if someone can provide an helpful response to Joe87's post biggrin

There will be stats st some point today RL has been intruding. sad

In Other News

knreed has augmented his recent post to give details of OS and Processor types used across WCG.

Interesting that Linux systems account for 28.4% of compute power whilst Android, despite the it's taken to adapt BOINC, accounts for only 0.53%.

Win XP accounts for 3.76% and Win 8.x 6.47%.

Sorry to hear your bad news Thargor.

Good luck with your company. Unfortunately we are pushing the limits of our internet connections at work so anything that may use the slightest bit of bandwidth is a none starter!
