Well done guys, with our new heavy hitters we are doing great.
----------------------------------------Speaking of teamwork The Belfast Giants have just thumped last years champions Cardiff 8-1 in their barn no less. ![]() ![]() |

Results totals:
----------------------------------------15 Apis Tintinnambulator 249,639 16 dcrobinson 249,639 What was it Terry Pratchett said? "Million to one chances happen nine times out of ten" Note (if you read this today) that my signature graphic says I'm 15th but about to drop, whereas the league table says I already have. Another bug to add to the list!

"Million to one chances happen nine times out of ten" Hehe !! Dead heats are something you don't think about much when you're programming that sort of thing, are they? But I'll have 250,000 results for the team in 2 days' time, and a couple of nice personal milestones in around 12/13 days too. But you're making it very hard for me to get past you! Are we going to be playing tag for a while now? ![]() |

Hey guys, anyone have any experience of using Linux instead of Windows for WCG crunching? If so, did your daily output increase somewhat after the change?

Hey guys, anyone have any experience of using Linux instead of Windows for WCG crunching? If so, did your daily output increase somewhat after the change? I can't do a comparison, as the only Windows-based machine I used to do WCG on was my gaming PC at home (which is getting a bit flaky now so I've stopped); everything else I run WCG on is running debian-Linux, which seems to run fine. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Thargor at Nov 13, 2018 9:10:44 AM] |

We have had a few people tell us that that you can improve your daily output by moving from Windows to Linux hence was just wondering if anyone had any experience of this.
----------------------------------------We have 2x 1950x Threadrippers with the same setup so have now moved one to Linux (Mint) so we can test any improvements. However its running/booting from a 7GB USB flash drive so we'll probably have to move it to the HD for a proper test. Also not sure how long it will take as new hosts seem to be treated differently to older ones by WCG. 大不列颠 1 Team China 98,607 2 UK 93,710 3 Team Andrax 20,374 4 Chinese Dream 19,708 5 Elon Musk 9,065 6 BOINC@AUSTRALIA 7,525 7 Neumannium Labs 5,782 8 Team Ryan Hull Show 3,400 9 Maastricht Challenges 2,178 10 SETIKAH@KOREA 2,061 11 UK BOINC Team 1,832 ![]() [Edit 4 times, last edit by ncoded.com at Nov 13, 2018 1:29:37 PM] |

I've proven this time and again, you get 50% more on Linux within those projects. Happy to share stats. BTW, we're doing great on SCC.! One of my colleagues was made redundant today, after 27years service hence poor grammar. #greatsendoff
