Re: 24 days of new work remaining for HPF2

I just recieved my first 9xx-000xx-xx unit. Based on recent progression of unit numbers I would say that within 24 hours the last unit is send out.

Re: 24 days of new work remaining for HPF2

There are no more work units left for the project, as I can confirm on my systems. It's time to opt into the next project.

Not sure that is actually helping those in need of WU's the way people hope. The End-Of-Project post indicates that only NECESSARY re-issues will be made, and because of the Minimum Quorum (15) vs Replication (19) system here, it sounds like 5 people would have to abort the same WU before 1 person is granted that WU as a re-issue.

Specifically, it said: only tasks that will be sent are those tasks that are necessary to complete existing in progress workunits.

Anyone concur? Or is 19 still the 'necessary' number ??

Re: 24 days of new work remaining for HPF2

Quorum starts to validate at 15 returned results, but the minimum required returned is actually like 17 and of course ideally 19, since all tasks are unique, folding from a slightly different offset point [simplified].

Re: 24 days of new work remaining for HPF2

When you know what to look for, by whom and where, it's rather trivial via advanced search or using boolean to find pretty much anything: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewpostinthread?post=102255

edit: The mentioned 33K results structures per gene were IIRC not too long ago expanded, but the number escapes me... an easy search for those who want to find out ;>)

Re: 24 days of new work remaining for HPF2

When you know what to look for
Thx SakeRobot ;-) That is a really great read from the archives!

As the majority of the masses probably never touch the "2" day work queue default, then whatever work that remains In-Progress (ie: by those of us who take a greater than 2 day queue) is increasingly likely to be OVER the minimum quorum, thus regardless of magnanimous Aborts, they're not subject to re-issue unless other edge cases described in your link occur.

I'm hoping I'm wrong, and some batch of re-issues will come my way after the 20th. Right now my machines are completely pegged, on the remains of a 10 day queue they likely can not finish ahead of deadline (yes, I'm trying 'greed' to reach Sapphire), thus even if re-issues are happening before the 20th, my machine won't grab them :-)
