Re: 24 days of new work remaining for HPF2

Is there a way to do that without using an XML file?

Yes. I contacted my close friends and family directly and explained to them in depth what it is we do here. Then took them step-by-step to install WCG on their computers. It's been a positive experience for them, myself, and WCG. Some are staying on as new members with their own accounts.

I am very close to a sapphire badge on HPF2 - this will be coming down to the wire.

I was referring to using the weak authenticator key to attach to the project and do work, so I don't have to give out my username and password... The only ways I've found to do that is to manually create the XML file for the project.

Re: 24 days of new work remaining for HPF2

Probably because you heard that through the grapevine, but the proper method using the weak account key is by running the boinccmd command from a terminal in the BOINC program folder [not the data dir]:

boinccmd --project_attach www.worldcommunitygrid.org yourweakaccountkey

The key changes each time you alter the password or hit the
Change link on the My project page next to the weakauth.

Re: 24 days of new work remaining for HPF2

Is there an update on how many days left there are?

I don't think I'm going to make my next badge as I need 19 more calendar days.

Re: 24 days of new work remaining for HPF2

If there is no update use simple math from day of announcement. That's what is currently used for HPF2 on the dashboard.

How long has this been happening? If it was just recently, then I wouldn't worry. I have received a work unit since that time. It is probably due to people loading up their caches and draining the feeder. Give it some time and try requesting work again a little later.

Colesaw - it always here; looks like application unable to work with current architecture or instructions in that virtual machine - because CEP2 WUs unable to fetch too.

Re: 24 days of new work remaining for HPF2

dango, I recommend opening a separate thread in BOINC Agent Support. The Linux adepts can more clearly address your issues. Also, make sure to add as much info about your setup that you can. I would mention that it is more then one WCG project being affected. They may also want to know more about the system the VM's are residing on as well.
