Hello Grasor,
There are no GPU projects in the pipeline. Unless you want to run GPUGrid on BOINC, you might as well disable GPU on BOINC. Lawrence |

I stopped getting any World Community Grid work units about the same time as the original poster.
I followed all of the suggestions to try that were posted and still have not received any work units for any project. |

Wish client version were posted. 6.10.58 and even early 7.0.xx version can suffer from 'starvation' in a mixed CPU/GPGPU environment.
----------------------------------------If you don't feel held to the WCG kit [mostly the Corporate/College partners are for 'corporate' reasons], suggest to fetch 7.0.64/65, and even those still have a rare condition that will be fixed in a next release. Get it here: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php . Been testing for long, and not encountered fetch issues at all [which is of course no absolute guarantee]. edit: finish sentence. I switched over to 7.0.64, and I am still not getting any World Community work units. I am getting plenty of work from other projects though. My last World Community work unit was on 5/1/2013.
I only switched over on my main desktop, I will try my other computers later to see if they will download World Community work units with 7.0.64. |

Hi forward,
Unless otherwise proved, I will assume that this is a problem caused by some BOINC instruction related to GPU work. 1) Were you running HCC GPU units? 2) Are you running GPU work units for some non-WCG BOINC project? 3) Please post the startup messages that BOINC creates to describe your system. 4) Look at My Grid - Device Manager - (Selected Profile) - Processor Usage and make sure that "Allow research to run on my CPU?" is set to Yes. Then see if "If my computer can process work on my graphics card, then please send me work to run on my graphics card for the projects that I have selected above." is checked or not. If you are running Local Preferences, how is GPU set on your Local Preferences Activity menu? Lawrence |

I am also seeing the same problem, however I was gone for a month and shutdown all processing while I was gone to preserve UPS power in case of a power failure. On returning, SETI came up and worked fine but WCG hasn't. Here is a sample log.

The last poster's machine is a PowerPC Mac. My own G5 hasn't received any WCG tasks since the beginning of this month either. My Intel Mac's been receiving them OK, but only one task from any of the projects which also support PPCs, so I assuming those projects have no work at the moment.

Except for the active sciences that are actually not having been ported to PPC (footnote 1 http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/help/viewTopic.do?shortName=minimumreq), there is [to me] no reason other then the server seeming to not be interpreting work requests [for CPU] correctly. The list identifies though as FAAH being the only active left for PowerPC, and these anyhow were not getting the HCC-GPU project work.

If you are running Local Preferences, how is GPU set on your Local Preferences Activity menu? Lawrence 1. yes HCC GPU work units 2. yes/Poem at Home/Collatz 3. Sorry,I cannot figure out how to copy them. It says to copy to clipboard, but I do not know what that is, or how to do it. Old retired guy here not too computer literate. 4.Allow research checked/CPU usage checked yes/I have use graphics card not checked for World Community grid now/Local preferences is set to use projects preferences as set on each project. I should add that I am not getting any World Community Grid work units on both Windows and Linux machines. I was getting World Community work units on all my computers until after 5/1-2013. I switched over to other projects when I stopped getting any work units from World Community Grid. I just tried deleting and adding World Community Grid, but still no work units. Thanks |
