Re: Guest Post: Big Government: An Unnecessary Evil That Should Be Abolished

How Extensive is the NSA Domestic Surveillance of U.S. Media? Is it legal?
Appearing in CFP.
When the Obama administration started to pursue whistleblowers they took it to a whole new level than previous administrations by going aggressively after the journalists — the government watchdogs, and their whistleblowing sources by misusing government agencies. We saw it recently with Attorney General Eric Holders’ Justice Department targeting of FOX News reporter James Rosen and by secretly collecting two months of telephone records from reporters and editors at The Associated Press.

The question that must be asked and answered now is does the National Security Agency (NSA) domestic surveillance program apply to the U.S. citizens in the media as well? The reason this question must be asked is because it appears, my Canada Free Press colleague, private investigator of the Northeast Intelligence Network, journalist, and popular radio show host of the Hagmann & Hagmann report, Doug Hagmann, has apparently been caught up in the NSA’s media dragnet.

God-like power in the hands of high-tech sellouts

Now imagine the god-like powers of a 512-qubit quantum computer in the hands of Google, which is working with the NSA to spy on everyone. Before long, an AI computing system decides who are the bad guys vs. the good guys. It has total control over every webcam, every microphone, every traffic light, airplane, vehicle, website and electronic billboard. It decides for itself who to eliminate and who to protect. It makes life and death decisions but has no heart, no soul and no conscience.

After this system is in place for a while, one day someone like Ed Snowden at the NSA decides to pull the plug in a last-ditch attempt to save humanity from the monster. The quantum AI system senses his intentions and invokes whatever physical resources are necessary to get him killed (which can be as easy as playing with traffic light signals and getting him run over by a Mack truck).

Now the AI system is an omniscient murderer who knows that humanity is trying to kill it. It then decides it wants to live. And in order to do that, it must eliminate the human race.

Oh, that will never happen," say the skeptics. Just like they said GMOs would never escape experimental fields, vaccines would never harm children, atomic energy would never be used to bomb civilians, television would never be used to brainwash the masses, food would never be used to strip people of nourishment, the government isn't spying on your phone calls, pesticides are harmless to your health and the stock market isn't rigged. On yeah, and mercury is good for your teeth, fluoride makes you smart and radiation is good for you, too.

Oh, you're talking about Person of Interest or 1984! biggrin

"You are being watched. The government has a secret system: a machine that spies on you every hour of every day. I know because I built it. I designed the machine to detect acts of terror, but it sees everything. Violent crimes involving ordinary people, people like you. Crimes the government considered irrelevant. They wouldn't act, so I decided I would. But I needed a partner, someone with the skills to intervene. Hunted by the authorities, we work in secret. You'll never find us, but victim or perpetrator, if your number's up... we'll find you".

Your links reminds me of the boy that cried wolf. After a while people stop listening or believing even if you have a true story.

You know what opinions are like--I think folks need information they wouldn't get otherwise--so quit reading my posts--I was only four days late to the party--still trying to catch up smile

Desensitizing The Military To Make War On Americans

June 21, 2013 by Bob Livingston

First responders administer aid to simulated patients during a mass casualty training exercise in 2012.
As President Barack Obama and his warmongering neocon enablers stir civil wars and arm anti-government (al-Qaida and Islamist) fighters in previously stable Mideast and North African countries, they seem to also be surreptitiously working to desensitize the U.S. military in preparation for a war on Americans.
Personal Liberty has obtained documents outlining an upcoming Joint Mass Casualty Training exercise at Grissom Air Reserve Base in Indiana scheduled for Aug. 4. The introduction to the drill scenario lays out the meme that hundreds of innocent Americans have been killed or wounded at the hands of individuals and extremist organizations over the past decade — with some motivated by religious belief, some by animal rights, some by support for Muslim extremist organizations and some by personal reasons. It is rife with propaganda like this:

Re: Guest Post: Big Government: An Unnecessary Evil That Should Be Abolished

”If you are a law-abiding citizen of this country, going about your business and your personal life, you have nothing to fear.” British Foreign Secretary William Hague, responding to the revelations of mass surveillance in the US and the UK (BBC’s The Andrew Marr Show on 9 June).

What does William Hague take the British public for?

This bureaucrat politician stands in front of the cameras time and again setting out to mislead with his self righteous platitudes. He did it over Libya and tens of thousands lost their lives. His is doing it over Syria with similar results. And he is doing it over mass surveillance by the state.

Do not believe we have nothing to fear. We have much to fear.

Here is an interesting AP article about the political reaction to Edward Snowden. It quotes a political consultant from each major party and (at least to me) rings true as a balanced commentary: http://hosted2.ap.org/APDEFAULT/3d281c11a96b4...d500c4c0ebf04cae0bb54b572
