Hi eole6,
You have set your preferences to keep shutting off BOINC. I would not expect much to be computed. Your web site statistics will ,show this. You have a dual-core computer but: 15/02/2013 00:12:01 | | don't use GPU while active means that if a single core is even half busy, you will shut down BOINC rather than just leave the BOINC thread in memory, temporarily stopped while a higher priority task runs. I let BOINC run on my computer until my quad-core is using more than 90% for non-BOINC tasks. This means I never shut BOINC down for this reason. No wonder your log shows: 15/02/2013 00:12:01 | | suspend work if non-BOINC CPU load exceeds 25 % 15/02/2013 00:12:24 | | Suspending computation - CPU is busy This line is worrying unless you did it manually: 15/02/2013 00:12:03 | | Suspending network activity - user request In general, you need to set your preferences to allow more work to be done. Just my opinion. Lawrence |

Hi Lawrence,
----------------------------------------Usually I use Boinc like this : - I want to use approximatively 50%-60% of my CPU for BOINC, not 100% during many hours, so I am sure my CPU is not too warm. - I want to operate only one work unit, not two in the same time; so, one is suspended, the other active; I put "network activity suspended" and when the two work units are completed, I send both and I download two other. But "suspend work if non-Boinc CPU load exceeds 25 %" : I don't know why it is like this ... maybe it is why I have "suspending computation, CPU is busy" : I don't have this before. So, I see now "preferences" : It seem not to be very good ... [Edit 2 times, last edit by Former Member at Feb 16, 2013 2:36:43 AM] |

Change the "On multiprocessor systems, use at most" to 50% to run only 1 wu at a time.
Change the "while processor useage is less than" to 0, unrestricted as you now have 1 CPU core unused by BOINC. If this is a desktop system and not a laptop, I would leave "use at most" set to 100% cpu time as you are only using 1/2 of the cpu with only 1 core running Also I noticed that you only allow 1 GB of disk space, I would change this to 10 GB, This is located on the "Disk and memory usage" tab The GPU settings I will leave for better qualified people. |

Hello fredski,
----------------------------------------Yes, I try like this : but as you see with "speedfan" both cores are still busy. I think they are not really this settings the problem, even if it is maybe better as you say, because this work pretty well before, the problem is this curious flat graphic; I don't know if my computer don't work for nothing; and also the white strips on pictures of some work units, instead title for instance as you see at the beginning of this question. Yes both cpu are in use, but only 1 is being used by BOINC, check task manager (CTRL-SHIFT_ESC) and check running processes for what is using the cpu, may have to check the box that says show all users. This is the process that was causing boinc to suspend before. The flat graph was most likey caused by these constant suspendings. If you check your result status page you will see the times on completed Wu listed as Cpu time/Elapsed time, the differance is the time suspended.

Process Explorer seem more clear than Task Manager and both cores seem in use here ...
----------------------------------------How can I be sure that Boinc work correctly now ? ![]() How can I correct the steep beginning of Boinc "statistics" (before 41000) ? It is now like this : ![]() So the increase or each done work unit should be more evident like it was ... [Edit 3 times, last edit by Former Member at Feb 19, 2013 4:45:14 AM] |

You are using 50.01% of cpu for hpf2 wu, that is 1/2 cores, you have 46.97% idle, and about 3% by system processes, the other core. Based on that BOINC is working fine, let it run.
The graph normally shows last 30 days, suspect you reinstalled or upgraded on 29 Jan, once you have 30 days of data the older data will fall off. Give it about 2 weeks. |

Yes, I wait a few day and see again if "statistics" is now correct ...
----------------------------------------If you see the second core on speedfan, it is graphically much more than 3 % (rather 30 %), so these 50,01 % + 3 % seem distributed on both cores in fact ... [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Feb 19, 2013 9:09:39 AM] |

The OS happily distributes cycles over the cores, lest you start using [auto]affinity. On Hyperthreaded CPU's [an Intel exclusive FAIK] it's even so that the OS will take care to use spare cycles for other running processes. E.g. when having a dual core HT and you set 50% Processor use, you don't loose half, rather much less if little. The jobs start to run much faster!
Any, so far see nothing broken but your GPU no longer being recognized [drivers maybe]. Your stats progress normal on the basis of CPU only. |

My stats are rather standard now :
but I have always some white strips on graphics like this : ![]() |
