servers are back up. but I have 1 wu stuck in backoff-retry [RESOLVED]
hi

the wu is
X0960109781130200905261302_ 0_0, _1, and _2
help conquer cancer.

It has been stuck for over 8 hours
WUs on other PCs on same net can upload.

I havr both restarted boinc manager and rebooted PC.

Hi,

Question: Has the device managed to get any new work since then and report other tasks? If so, just let the upload sit till it expires or succeeds.

If you also have a modem/router in-between, switch it off for a minute and power it up again. It will probably get a new IP from the ISP and refresh the path to the WCG server. Else, maybe the techs read it to see if a flag is locked.

Curious goings-on......

I shut down everything and power-off-on of DSL modem and router.

Waited for the timeout to expire.
Still stuck.
edit: - Unable to get new wu from any WCG project.
But...
Added a Malaria control project on the PC that was stuck.
It could get downloads and WU OK.

My cc_config.xml had been wiped out.
I copied over a copy from another box - same version BOINC.
Added debug,

the online msg repeats fo 30 or so seconds, then it goes back to the

AH-hah.

Thjat was it.
My copy of ca-certificates.crt was zero-lenght.
Acopied over the file from another pc and voila - fixed.

I have no idea what whomped the file. Perhaps an unclean shutdown.?

How your files went southward bound, that's the 65,000 dollar question only you can have the answer to. Generally this WCG required ca-bundle.crt file is read-only [for Windows 7 it's in the BOINC program file, client 7.0.47, not the BOINC data_dir as per the FAQ), but for some Linux setups and BOINC builds, this file is not even needed and BOINC using the system certificate file. Depends on how BOINC was compiled [but not sure what exactly is required to achieve this].
